redkneck
I'm sick of getting hosed by AT&T. Went to pay the bill online and found I had an extra 60 bucks for data overage on my phone (I have a small 300mb plan, almost always on wifi). Last month it was my daughter who had the same thing. I end up having to go back retro-actively to add bigger plans to cover the overage then drop back the next month. I hardly use my data away from wifi, but always seems to be an app that will eat it up about one or two days a month. Kid's 13th bday is this year and they'll both want smart phones I'm sure. I dont mind getting them one, they work hard as honor students and athletes and have earned them IMO. Any of you guys on a different carrier or something that you can bundle the entire family with data? I'm paying around $200/month now for 4 phones, I can't stand the idea of going up again. thanks in advance.
bowhunter97
verizon. I have it and the smartphones for each phone it is 29.99 for data. I think we are around 200 or 250 for the phones but we also have 1450 minuets for 5 people and my mom is the only one with a smartphone. I have some sort of a data plan on mine but im not to sure on what kind. hope that helps
CountryF-150
I have the 2 gb data plan with AT&T and I haven't ever come close to reaching the limit. I think it's $30 for the 2 gb.

cowboy778
Verizon, family to family is free and I have unlimited data and text usage. I got rid of the house phone and use it.
redkneck
At&t ditched the unlimited and now its 30 a month for 3GB. That's a lot of freaking money each for a family of four just to be sure you don't have overages. I asked the lady if they could just cap the data when you hit your limit and of course they won't. I too dropped the home phone a few years ago but they manage to get it out of you anyway lol.

wtnhunt
At&t is no better or worse as far as I can tell than any other carrier, where we are we are kinda stuck on our bundled home plan. Have home phone/internet(dsl)/and the cell that the wife carries on a bundle and that gets us a whopping $5 a month off our dtv bill. We don't do any smart phone data plans here John, although the samsung phone the wife has is capable of browsing the internet. Our 10 year old wants a phone, I say NO, I will not cave to the "every other kid at school has one" crap. Christina is 16 and she has text messaging on her phone, that is a verizon pay as you go deal, she is able to look at her facebook and look at some websites with her phone without getting a data plan. It is actually cheaper for us with her having the verizon phone than it is to change our cell plan in the bundle and add a line, CRAZY. Think we pay around $15 a month for her service and to add a line and change our plan with at&t would cost us around $35. We did check into a deal with mobilenation here, they have some affordable family bundle plans, issue with them is they use their towers only and their coverage is spotty even here, much less getting coverage away from this area. They don't even roam, so basically when you leave their coverage area you are just without any service. Christina's phone month to month is basically paid for out of what she gets for allowance. Not to tell anyone what to do here, but think kids need to pay for their own, with allowance/chore or whatever money they earn if they are going to have one so they learn a little responsibilty. Really sad that so many kids these days are of the expectation that they have to have this or that. While on the topic of cell phones, something that gets me is that I don't even have one for myself and we get mailings and see commercials about this safelink phone deal which of course we do not qualify for, yet our bill has fees that pay for those who get their "free phones". Pretty screwed up.
Dawg
AT&T is alright for the most part. They are switching the network in our area to 4G LTE and it's causing some problems with our phones. We called CS and they credited our bill for this month. We have 3 phones on that plan and it runs around $200/month. My company phone is Verizon and I have no idea what it costs.
