ATC , Jeep or Truck?

Recommended Posts

I have personally had experience with both. The are both great in their own ways. I have found tho if u have a smaller flat bottomed boat you can just throw it in the back of the truck and go just about anywhere with it. Jeeps are super nice have some more storage that can keep everything dry and locked up when ur not there. And are very easy to manuver through pretty thick stuff as well. I loved my jeep this past season for duck hunting I got into some places that I would not attempt in my truck but it really depends on what u prefer.

Each of the three have their pros and cons I guess. I have both a truck and an ATV. My truck is only 2wd, so if I go in the woods I normally put the ATV in the back and go as far as I'm comfortable or to a certain spot and unload the ATV and go from there. A Jeep would be nice, but can't haul an ATV unless it's on a trailer which limits how far you go with the Jeep unless you want to pound the snot out of your trailer. Or go without the ATV and pound the snot out of your Jeep where you wouldn't struggle as much with the ATV. Personally I'd get a truck and an ATV and have the best of both worlds.

I have all three. I don't use any of them to go hunting with. I use the oldest mode of transportation I have, my own two feet. LOL. I walk out my back door across one field, down my access road onto one of my trails depending on the wind direction and go to one of my stands or blinds. Total trip 1/2 mile give or take. When I shoot a deer I walk back to the house, get the tractor out of the barn and go get the deer. I have to drag it all the way into the bucket for the trip back to the barn. I can either hang the deer from the bucket overnight or dump it into the truck for the ride to the butcher shop. Um, I guess I do use the truck.

I am walking in most of the time, but I hunt on our property behind our house. When I had to drive to the property to hunt it I used my truck to get there and took our 4 wheeler in the back. Getting a truck to deer in some places around here is not going to happen, jeep either for that matter, but a 4 wheeler will get to most. In all honesty, a truck and a a 4 wheeler would be a good way to go. I usually will use the tractor and drag the deer close enough to get it to the tractor bucket for the ride back, but have also used the 4 wheeler for those spots that are tough to get close to.
