Kevo72
I'm kind of new to the world of the crossbow. I just bought a Horton Summit 150. It has the accu dial in the stock like many Hortons. The dial has settings 0 through 9. Is each click ten yards of elevation? I just set it on 0 and zeroed it in at 20 yards. Does anyone have any idea how this dial setting works? Bolt weight and broad head weight cannot make that too accurate! Right?
jesse8953
I just sold my horton[nothing wrong with it just upgrated]I sighted mine in 0 at 10 yards,1 at 20 yards 2 at 30 yards I had a red dot scope with 3 dots 1st dot spot on 2nd dot 5 yards 3rd bot 8 yards. [10/15/18/-20/25/28-30/35/38]I used easton bolts and 100 grain spitfire broadheads.I killed a deer every year since a got that crossbow.I hope my luck continues with my new excaliber.Good luck! Kevo72
Hortons I have a reddot sight also but only one dot. I will probably upgrade to a 3 dot sight. so do you adjust the dial in the tree or do you pre set it according to the distance you are hunting. If you know you are not going to have a shot within 20 yards do you switch it to 2 or 3 depending on ranges sighed in at? Just trying to make sense of it? I must sound dumb! jesse8953
I set the scope to the range I think I'm going to shoot. My set up is 25 yards but some of the deer I have shot didn't read my script.Use a rangefinder and pre-range different spots. That way if a deer showes up in a different place you have a good idea on the yardage.I have missed because I miss judged the distance.Thats why I check out diffrernt spots.I hope this will help. And no you don't sound dumb! The main thing is a good ethical, clean kill. You have heard the saying pratice makes perfect.Well I have my own moto.Perfict pratice makes perfict!Good luck!
