Well guys, after the morning got off to a terrible start I scored. I never heard the first peep out of a turkey this morning. set up this morning at a crossroads where 4 roads come together,it's always a good spot for turkey and deer. After not hearing anything I decided to move to the pasture edge where I could see for a longer distance,I sat there for a while but heard nothing. I then glanced across the feild and seen a bird walk out about 100 yards away. He was just poking along doing whatever turkeys do and payed no attention to any of my calls nor made any kind of vocalazations. He started in the other direction and when he got over a little rise and behind a rose bush,I new this would be my only chance so I proceeded to make a stalk. I kept the rose bush in between him and me and when I got up to it he was about 50 yards away. Not sure if it was a gobbler or not,but thought it was because of the white and red head,I waited to confirm my target. Then a cow came in to the feild from my right and was looking right at me,this made the bird take a couple steps and I seen the beard, bingo. I raised up from my crouched position and settled the sights on the Tom. I shot and he took off trotting after he flinched, running in the opposite direction so I fired another one at about 80 yards, don't know why, just excited I guess. He ran down in a little valley and I knew where he was going so I went after him. I got in the bottom and seen him comeing through the brush,he was hurt but still getting away. I raised the benelli once again and fired at him from about 15 yards and finally put him down. I have only been out 3 times this season but have managed to tag out for the first time in about 6 years. He was about 18lb with a 10 1/4" beard and 1 1/4" spurs. fde912b8.jpg
