Jeramie
I noticed the other day I had skunk droppings in my well house which is where I store chicken and horse feed. I knew it was going to be a problem but haven’t actually seen one in there. I’ve kept the 20ga loaded to lower the boom when they come out at night but thus far they have been very, very sneaky about being in there. Today my wife was carrying in some horse feed and came dang near face to face with one. There are places for them to hide so it doesn’t surprise me. Now I need to run these stubborn things out so I can shoot them. I can’t shoot them in there as I also store some fishing/ hunting stuff and my saddles in there. Not to mention the smell would be HORRIBLE. How the heck do you run a skunk out? I know the floating feed in the barrel trick but they are cozy and not going anywhere. I need to actually get them out of there. I’ve read online to use moth balls, ammonia, etc. but I’ve read just as many post saying it doesn’t work... Ideas? I need to get them out NOW..... RangerClay
I was a state wildlife trapper for over 15 years. The best way to get rid of skunks without a smell is to live trap them. If you want any tips (ie. best baits) please PM me.
redkneck
I'm wondering if you got a big sticky trap and tied a string to it if you could just pull one out when they get stuck on it.

That's a good idea. I live trap them. They eat just about anything, but over the years, steak bones and cat food do best.
Ravin R10 man
They love peanut butter..make sure your live trap has a cover over it so they cant see you...then you just carry them out without spraying
whitetailfreak55
My dad catches them sometimes in live traps. He puts a wet blanket over the cage so that way if it does spray it wont smell as bad. Cat food catches them pretty good
stevebeilgard
instead of trapping them just put some moth balls in the room. most animals do not like the smell of moth balls. i put them around my tent when in bear country.
wtnhunt
Always heard they love cat food and peanut butter, but never had to try to catch them. Guess if it were me I would try and trap em too. Good luck Jeramie.
Jeramie
I had to have a quick solution so this weekend I cracked the door, turned on the light, and took a radio and cranked a classic rock station and tossed it in like a live grenade. They moved out of that building which was the immediate problem, and moved into another. At least they aren’t in the way so now I can take the time to trap them out right. Jeramie
You can also just kick them. I did that once.......once. One of my geldings noticed a momma and a litter crossing our field at dark one night. She also had a boyfriend in tow. He thought they were cats (im guessing) and deisded to chase them. It did not end well for the gelding.
Adjam5
I have live trapped skunks and placed the trap in a trash pail filled with water. So long stinky. I started out by shooting them. Bad idea... in trap and a pail full of water works best imo.
doog3
if u know someone who has indoor cats and uses a litterbox place used cat litter they hate that,we had a few around our neighbourhood we placed it everywhere outside in the sheds they stayed away, the skunks hate the smell of the cat urine, once our neighbours knew what we used they were asking us for some of the used cat litter now none of us have any problems with skunks any more Edited May 8, 2012 by doog3 missed a word
snapper
Buy a couple gallons of ammonia...dump it all around the building ...they'll split! At least it worked for. me once.
stevebeilgard
I couldn't believe I was sprayed 3 times. wait a minute.... you actually stuck around for 2 more sprayings? lol
whitetailfreak55
Just remember if you do shoot them don't in the head. It automatically triggers them to spray better for a heart shot or something along them lines
