Shaun_300
Not sure how many of you know about my incident that happened a few years ago. I made a huge mistake and drove my 4 wheeler under the influence of alcohol and got caught, got a DUI. This happened June 2008, got convicted in court January 2009 and lost my licence til April 2010. Over this time I built an engine out of a Corvette, pulled my V6 out of my truck and installed the built V8. Today everything finally came together, got my insurance on it, got my tag renewed and she's back on the road! Just got back from a little cruise. Feels so great to be cruising down the road with the windows down and tunes blaring, haven't experienced that in my truck in 3 years nearly! Feels the same until you plant your foot to the floor, the LS6 sits you back in the seat a lot more violently than the little V6 4.3L did.:clown: Anyways, learned my lesson, haven't drank and drove since and never will again as long as I live. Very hard and expensive lesson to learn!
Adjam5
That is quite a story Shaun. Glad you are on the straight and narrow and being good. I am glad your project is what you expected. I remember when you first started with the Vette motor in the truck. Good Luck with it and try not too have too heavy of a foot. Or else you could develop another problem...speeding! Enjoy those Horses .
redkneck
Good deal Shaun, been guilty of such stupidity myself, as I'm sure many of us have been at some point in life. Congrats on the new status!
Shaun_300
Thanks guys! Yes I was quite ashamed of myself, but hey, stuff happens and people make mistakes, you just have to learn by them! Just got in from a cruise. Have to get the right throttle cable on it since I'm only getting 3/4 throttle or so. Had it out on a long and straight back road and did a quick run up to 90 or so, it got there quick. Man that thing pulls HARD! :clown: Gonna put my nice wheels on tomorrow and give it a wash and clean up the inside.

redkneck
Remember they'll pull a sober man's license when you're clocked over a certain speed also lol.
Jeramie
[h=1]Congratulations man! Lessons are tough sometimes. “The difference between school and life? dbHunterNY
Good to hear you're back on the road. Try not to speed too much. Thing is you'll lose your license and your truck! Technically you're powered by a Caddy motor and should drive like an old person, slow and steady. lol
wtnhunt
People make mistakes, no doubt guilty of my share. Glad you learned from it Shaun. The truck sounds like quite a ride, do remember you posting about the swap and work going into it. How are you keeping the power to the asphalt, that light a truck and that much power would seem it would break loose real easy, any tranny or traction control upgrades? Muff
Yep Shaun been there....done that....its no fun at all....glad you back on the road.
redkneck
The real question is how do you get a DUI on a 4-wheeler? I mean were there no woods to get into? :48:
Shaun_300
Thanks guys! William, no tranny or driveline upgrades yet, it's pretty good on the dry pavement, today is the first day I've driven it in the rain and it brakes free pretty easily, at like 1/4 throttle @ 2000rpm lol. Just have to be careful not to stomp on it on wet pavement. I'll probably add some traction bars maybe this summer. Gonna take my worn out snow tires and put my mags and all seasons on today. Might be a different story when it comes to traction then. My snows are fairly soft so that's probably why it sticks so good on the dry pavement! John, I was on a 2 lane highway when I got caught. Which is perfectly legal with insurance and helmet up here in certain areas. In Ontario the same rules apply to ATV's, snowmobiles and boats when it comes to traffic laws. Hate to say it but if I had to do it again I would have turned around and booted it into the woods.

The_Kat
Shaun just do a good burnout every time you leave the house. That will warm em up and make em a bit stickier I have been waiting on you to get that thing going for some time. You better get busy with a video. I wanna hear it, and see a dash shot of it's take off. I'd like to stick the Stang beside it and run em
stevebeilgard
you did nothing all of us haven't done at one time or another. you just got caught, and paid the penalty. good going. anyway, maybe tell the folks here what the penalty is for a dui in canada. it's a tough one, and i wish it were the same here in the states. (at least now that i don't do that anymore... lol)
Shaun_300
I'll get a video and speedo shot once I get my speedo working. Right now it reads about double of what I'm actually doing because my tune got screwed up. I pretty well know my speed reading my tach, but sometimes I turn the GPS on my phone on for a reference. Taking it on it's first voyage more than just outside of town tomorrow night, Kerri has to go to Ottawa to get new glasses so we'll take the truck, that'll be a good little run for it.
