We are going to have to get a bigger ride with the baby coming and have come down to our top 2 choices. Here they are and the pros and cons. Input would be welcome.

2005 Nissan Pathfinder

2003 Toyota Sequoia

Both are around the same price and we have more than half the cash for a down payment so financeing is not an issue.

Patfinder pros

1. Better gas milage test up to 31mpg and bottomed at 12.

2. New means new warentee.

3. Smaller better manuverability (my wife will be driving it.

4. 7 passenger seating

5. Fold flat 3rd row very easy to use.

Cons

1. Less room than the Toyota

2. Not quite the resale value of the toyota

3. Not as much towing capacity.

Toyota Sequoia

Pros.

1. Much larger 8 passenger seating

2. 3rd row is not only functional, but comfortable.

3. Leather seats. Very comfortable & easier to clean

4. More powerfull engine/ towing package.

5. Higher resale. We will drive either vehicle for 8-10 years or untill it dies before we sell it.

6. Much more cargo room with all 3 rows in use.

Cons

1. It is used and has 32K miles on it.

2. Gas Milage 19-20mpg at best

3. Bigger, not as easy to park.

4. Third row seats must be removed from vehicle for extra space. (they are easy to remove)

Re: Which SUV?

Sorry but I don't have any experience with either one of these.

We have an '04 Olds Bravada and it is great! Lots of horses to get you going, easy to get around with! The only problem is the wife hogs it all the time, so I have to drive my truck! LOL!

We looked at getting a Chevy Trailblazer at the time we got the Olds! Better seats in the Olds and lots of legroom!

Re: Which SUV?

Dont really know about those two choices other than that toyotas properly mainitained do last a long time, but so do some others.

Personally for the room I like a large vehicle like a yukon or suburban. My wife and kids take way too much when we go anywhere and it is nice to have the room for it and not be cramped.

Re: Which SUV?

Doubt you'll go wrong with either.

Consumer reports has the Sequoia as one of it's recommended vehicles. The Pathfinder is not but gets good scores for reliability.

Nissan is partly owned by Renault, a French company. frown.gif

Re: Which SUV?

Remember, the price of gasoline is going ^&^ (UP) toward $2.15 per gallon, this Spring. Buy the SUV that gives the best gas millage + low maintance cost. The 2005 Nissan Pathfinder or the 2003 Toyota Sequoia are not noted for good millage and are expensive to maintain.

If I wanted great gas milage I would get a Honda CRV. I realize I'll have to give up some MPG for comfort and room.

How are they expensive to maintain?

How does a Honda Pilot measure up to the Toyota Sequoia?

I don't have a clue, asI haven't looked into anything yet. Fiance is really after me to go car shopping for a Honda. (she's die hard honda cause of her past cars)

It cost quite a bit less, but it feels and drives like a minivan. They are a great vehicle, I just didn't like the feel of driving it. Gas milage is a little better, but not as good as the Nissan.

Most foreign cars cost a little more to maintain it seems. We drive ford vehicles. When the kids are older and the wife goes back to work, we will be heading over to Toyota.

But if you maintain them yourself how are they going to cost more? I just don't see where your getting that.

Re: Which SUV?

I like the older Durangos, but the new ones look too much like a minivan to me.

I already have a F-150 exteded cab and it is packed full when when we go to grandma's house. With the baby coming, it won't be enough. We have to have something with more interior storage, and a truck won't do it for us.

Also I trek kids a lot and need more passenger space than the truck would give.

How do you like your F150? And if you like it, have you looked into Expeditions? I'm looking for info on the Expedition myself as our family recently got bigger and the Mountaineer is now cramped.
