Palssonater
Re: Which SUV? Sequoia is not cheap either! I just checked the price! Wowsers! I can't find the torque specs for it though. I would imagine the V8 would do better compared to the V6.
johnf
Re: Which SUV? The one I've found I can get for about 24K. That's 5K under blue book and 1K under the loan value.
David_218
Re: Which SUV? [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Remember, the price of gasoline is going ^&^ (UP) toward $2.15 per gallon, this Spring. Buy the SUV that gives the best gas millage + low maintance cost. The 2005 Nissan Pathfinder or the 2003 Toyota Sequoia are not noted for good millage and are expensive to maintain. [/ QUOTE ] If I wanted great gas milage I would get a Honda CRV. I realize I'll have to give up some MPG for comfort and room. How are they expensive to maintain? [/ QUOTE ] If you do buy a used SUV then make every effort to buy it outright.
Guest buckchaser
Re: Which SUV? we upgraded from a chevy blazer to a chevy tahoe man what a difference in room it also has a built in dvd and third row seat i cant comment about the two you are looking at but i do suggest going as big as you can and maybe getting some of the features i mentioned the dvd is a lifesaver on long roadtrips with the kids!good luck on your decision. fisherguy
Re: Which SUV? I would say the Toyota based on the vehicle specs for both. I haven't driven either, but have driven other Nissan's and Toyota's. Overall i have more faith in Toyota's. I think both seem to make a good product, but Toyota has a bit of an edge IMO. johnf
Re: Which SUV? I was figuring gas milage and doing a little math. If I drive 10000 miles a year, which is about average for me, I would save about $250 a year in gas in the pathfinder. For that much I would rather get the bigger truck. HUNTINGMAN
I have a 2003 durango that I am very satisfied with,it is the last year they made the manly looking body style before they went to the mini van looking ones.It could get better gas milage but it has plenty of room and power and it goes realy good off road and in the mud.I have found my wife likes to drive it a little to much, she is wearing out my expensive mud tires while I drive her impala. jm23494
Correction: The Pathfinders 4.0 V6 puts out 270 hp. That's the same engine that I have in my 06 Xterra. Plenty of power to be had for everyday driving and any light towing. You can be going 40 mph and put it to the floor and it will put you back in your seat. There are pros and cons to both but my vote would be for the Pathfinder as an everyday driver. Edited February 20, 2009 by jm23494

nativetexan
I was actually sitting here thinking about what to say when we were looking at the Sequoia's.
stevebeilgard
i have experience with both. my wife had a 2003 infinity, which is a high end nissan. she had the 4.0 engine that got 16 mpg. she got a 2005 volvo xc90 that got 22 mpg. so, don't count on good gas mileage from that nissan 4.0. i also have a pharmicist friend in colorao that had a '93 nissan pathfinder that he put over 400,000 miles on before he traded it last year. my oldest daughter had a new 2005 sequoia and loved it. she bought a new 2008 sequoia last year as it's bigger and she needed the room for the 3rd child coming. the 2008 also has a better gadget (?) for hooking up a child seat. she loves the new one even more. both sequoia's get 17 mpg tops. i disagree with the $2.15 per gallon gas. i'm looking at $6.50 per gallon within 2 years. obamanomics is swinging into high gear as we speak. if high gas prices are going to kill you, don't get either of the cars you want. now, years ago i had a 4 cylinder caravan and it drove great. i bought it new for about $12,000.00. i think you can do similar to that today, and keep americans working. a caravan will give you lots of room, 22-25 mpg, and a good ride. just a thought. if we go back to nissan or toyota, i'd go toyota. Mirage
My brother has a pathfider I think its a 06 he likes it although not the best on gas. I asked him to buy american also but he will not listen to me hahah. I think toyota is probably going to be a better vehicle.
Ahunter61
I have had 10 Toyota Pickup and would not buy anything else they have always been very reliable, but I have not heard anything bad about Nissan's
unioncountyslayer
Wow, when I first read this and saw 2005 Nissan, and one of the pros was "new means new warranty" I was like "what"?. haha! So which one did you buy?
Grant-KS
Just a note on the pathfinder, the '07 I detailed made me swear more than just about any other vehicle to clean. It has all the features and seats of a much larger SUV, put in a crusher, and you have the pathfinder. If you are picky about how clean your vehicle is, and want it to be easy and relaxing to detail, this one is not for you. I also didn't care for how it's set up to get in and out of at least the driver's seat...it just didn't feel right at all. Look one over really well, get in and out of it, and try everything out before you buy. As far as a good vehicle, yep! Would I drive one? No way. I'm not biased. I like Nissan's vehicles as a general rule. I work for a used auto dealership and do all the detailing, and this was by far the worst vehicle I've done in that department. Sorry to rain on your parade on that one, but thought I would let you know about that angle.
