redkneck
Ball can be tuff. Been fortunate to Have no injurious to speak of over the years, but both of them went down tonight. Jody took a black eye with a ball while warming up and Rach took one to the mouth while pitching. Luckily no Dr trips and they were both right back out there. Normally make her wear a mask at pitching but didn't tonight. will be on her Fri night for sure. Edited May 23, 2012 by redkneck
whitetailfreak55
That's a good battle scar I broke my nose by taking a line drive at third base. Blackened both of my eyes.
clrj3514
She's a tough chick! I had a shiner when I was like 5 from playing baseball in the backyard that lasted a week or so. You could see the mark from the stitches in my eyebrow. Toted a bruise on my thigh from being hit by a pitch & took a hard grounder below the belt playing third base that left me sore a while. Got the man out though lol. Never had anything too serious thank God.
gzilla45
Ouch. Fortunately it didn't require trips to the ER as getting hit in the head is quite dangerous.
redkneck
Actually I was more concerned when Rachael took one to the face because she was dizzy and staggering coming off the field. Been lucky all these years, but with twins, everything always seems to happen to them at the same time.
Hunt or be Hunted
Ok maybe its just me, But when I seen the title was "Shiner" I was thinking something to do with moonshine... lol. Yeah I've had a few blows to the head as well. Worse one was a iceball fight one winter...
bowhunter97
that's a nasty one i've never done anything too bad to myself either i've never broken a bone or anything worse than jamming my fingers. I think i can honestly say i've probably jammed all my fingers. lol
Adjam5
Glad they are OK...Good tough gals you have there John . Baseball/sport injures more kids/people than hunting does. Since everyone is listing injuries...I took a line drive to the face while playing 3rd, that drove my front teeth right through my upper lip. I made the play and got the out, then to the ER...lots of inside stitches. They are better off hunting!
Rhino
That'll leave a mark...oh...it did! That had to hurt too. Surprised she's got sort of a smile on her face. Glad there's no serious or lasting damage John. Gotta be careful out there.
RangerClay
Ouch! I'll bet she is getting a lot of attention at school. Girls with black eyes get plenty of sympathy. My daughter just started pitching. I will probably make her wear a mask also.

We have a plastic Game Face brand, works well, but I would recommend the wire cage ones like this: Much better visibility. A good kid with a fast glove doesn't need one most of the time, but there's always a few more developed girls out there that can drive one hard and a ball coming at your face at over 120mph can be bad. wtnhunt
Glad the girls are ok John, know that hurt, shows they love the game or are pretty tough or both to get right back in there like that. Not gonna mention any injuries here.
