PAbowhunter4life
Never personally used it, but have heard nothing but good about it. Personally, I feel if it says Rocket on the label, it's a quality product, plain & simple.
Guest nubs
Re: Rocket Sidewinder??????? I have taken 2 bucks, and 1 doe with Rocket's Sidewinder 100 gr. 1.5 inch cut. The head does a great job on the deer, easy blood trails too. Only bad part is, once you shoot the head, its junked. The blades bend, and the tip does too sometimes. I even had a broken blade. Now with this said, Rocket sells replacement tips, blades, o-rings, and washers. Past 2 years, I have been shooting Muzzy and ThunderHeads again. hangunnr
Re: Rocket Sidewinder??????? I shot the Sidewinders this past year and they did well. As noted above you should be ready for a rebuild after shooting them. The blades will bend if contacting something solid. hangunnr
Guest KSNimrod
Re: Rocket Sidewinder??????? They are a pretty devastating head. I killed several deer with them and had dramatic entrance and exit holes. Like the others said, pick up a pack of replacement blades to use after you've shot them through a deer. I never had a problem with the trocar tip.
VTbowman
Re: Rocket Sidewinder??????? I used them solely for years and love them! Taken several deer with them too. Great blood; even in the rain in one case! [ QUOTE ] Only bad part is, once you shoot the head, its junked. The blades bend, and the tip does too sometimes. I even had a broken blade. [/ QUOTE ] I have to agree with this to a point. This was the case for me as well with the thinner blades (.027) they once had and the aluminium ferral (body). Now they sport .036 blades and they are a ton tougher then before. However the ferrals are still aluminium which can bend and the stainless steel tips can break free of the alum. threaded ferral on hard ground or bone hits. I switched to the Rocket 125 Extremes for this. All steel ferral, same exact design, with the thicker .036 blades. They are 125 grains, hence the 125 in the name and still cut to 1.5 inches. I love all the rocket heads I have used but these extremes are the way to go if your looking for more then a couple shots out of one head. OK...for some reason my link to the pictures wont work so heres the link to my photo album and you can compare them for yourselves...theres no difference between the two..just different names!!! The 2 photos of broadheads are of the Eastman (formerly Game Tracker Silvertip ) and of the Rocket SideWinder Broadhead comparison
