brad dryden
Here we go I have never worked on one let alone drive one. A friend of mine brought it over and it will not run. He parked it about 18 months ago and has had a kid and just lost intrest and has never been fired up since. Well we put new fuel in it because it had maybe a 1/4 tank left and I though maybe it was old fuel was the issue and still no luck but will run off of starting fluid. There is a line that runs off the fuel tank down to the nob where you can put it on reserve, off or on. Then from there from the nob there is a line going towards the engine and no fuel was coming out. I didnt have much time to really get into it and take off lines to see if it was getting fuel any where eles and thats where I left off. Any sugestions? It has 8k miles on it and is a 2005. redkneck
The knob is called the petcock. Do yourself a favor and get it to a shop. A bike that new and few miles should clean up with little time and money. Is it a VTX?
brad dryden
I am not sure if its a VTX or not. redkneck
We'll my point is that you are dealing with what sounds like a pretty nice bike and sounds like your guessing your way through it. I have little doubt you can fix it, BUT if you want to do it right then get your camera out and find yourself a good motorcycle forum and really go through it. lots of guys will bend over backwards to help you, but you have to read a lot to do your part, and right now your not sure what model you're working on. I promise I don't mean to sound rude but speaking from experience you don't want to muddle you're way through a job like that on a nice bike.
