Muff
Well I have been at the plant for 18 years.....and up till this year I loved my job,but with changes that have gone on in the past few months I really hate the place....so much so I called in sick yesterday and today just because I could not bring myself to go in.....anyone else ever hit this point in life where they hate their job......no way I can quit but I just needed a break. redkneck
I can relate (or at least I am getting there). Always loved my job and I really do work with great folks, but the direction we are going in right now vs the direction the market is going is not looking good. I give us 3 years here, it's like watching a slow train wreck. Maybe things will turn around, but I'm not holding my breath. Hang in there Joe! hoosierhunter
Hate my job Been there. Best advice I got was to put on the race horse blinkers and run my race. You can't worry about people and events out of your control. I've also been told that everyday I decide what type of day I'm going to have and how I react to adversity good or bad. Unfortunately for me it took my stubborn rear end a few years to realize that and I let my attitude push me to the point of no return in a great job and I quit. Btw a vacation can really help get your mind off things
jesse8953
yep,I know what you mean. The place I work won't hire anyone they just keep making us work 12 hours a day and the weekends.Everyone is always in a bad mood! The factory preaches about saftey, but doesn't care if the run there workers into the ground. Most people on 1st shift are 50+ years old.Management sits in the a.c. on there butt while we bust our tail out in the heat.I think there should be no a.c. at all in the place! MUDRUNNER
Been there. Best advice I got was to put on the race horse blinkers and run my race. You can't worry about people and events out of your control. I've also been told that everyday I decide what type of day I'm going to have and how I react to adversity good or bad. I have to agree with this. It use to be so frustrating when I cared more and voiced my opinion on certain issues. It didn't matter what I said it always fell on deaf ears....and still does. I learned that right or wrong, management is going to do what they want. Now I keep to myself, do my job, and only give my ideas or opinions when asked. It's unfortunate because I went from someone with a drive to wanting to see the company succeed, to just some dude with a job. I can't quit either...I've been here 14 years and no way I could start someplace new making what I do here.
whitetailfreak55
I hear ya there. I feel the same way about my job right now. I changed jobs in October feeling like my job now was a better place. Its a multi million dollar small company but the management can't get bills paid so we have materials and don't pay they're employees worth a hoot. To top it off my department is on overtime all the time and nobody else comes over to help when we helped them pull twelves in they're departments the whole winter. jaret
I hear ya guys. I used to pull a lot of OT at my job the last 2 years, but this year I'm barely getting any. I've pretty much ran through my vacation time allotted for the year, but I still have 8 days I'm planning on saving for later on. But it's mainly do to just management's attitude towards their employees. But I'm in the interview process of finding another job. So hopefully soon. NS whitetail
Sorry to hear this, hope you can get out of the rut. I must say though, I love my life on the Atlantic, some days suck, but it's just part of the job that you have to accept. There are only 3 of us aboard the boat, we work well together, we do very well, that's what makes my job more enjoyable. The harder we go at it, the more money we make. Shaun_300
That's too bad Joe, I have my moments as well. Some days I couldn't imagine doing anything else other than turning wrenches, and some days I just want to roll the toolbox out and never look back. ruttinbuc
I guess everyone gets to "hate" their job at times. You would hate it more being without one.
arrow32
My job puts me to my limits of BS I can handle every day. Between the people who live there and my boss I can barely take it most days. To make matters worse I've worked 7 days for about the past 8 weeks. Finally had a day off yesterday. I've thought about quitting but can't afford to. Hang in there it'll turn round.
