Tominator
Generator broke. Tractor broke. Bearing going on the truck. Ice maker on the fridge not making ice. $14,000 of tuition staring me in the face. Ain't life grand? OK, enough crying, I was just giving y'all an update on my summer so far. wtnhunt
Sorry to hear it Chris. Generator not under warranty? You went with the generac/guardian? Thought they carried a 3 or 5 year warranty. Seems around here for every one thing I fix I have 1 or 3 more things come along that break down or need work. Never ends.

redkneck
I know what you mean bud, I probably don't own much that doesn't need attention, i.e. money. Even the new stuff like my new dishwasher was doing good until Jody fell on the door when it was open, now it hangs down, i.e. it needs attention (money). In my next life I am going to rent everything. Hope the things that can possibly be fixed easily will be fixed easily for you. Otherwise there's always the lottery
Tominator
Sorry to hear it Chris. Generator not under warranty? You went with the generac/guardian? Thought they carried a 3 or 5 year warranty. All but the battery that the bad voltage regulator killed. $99 for that, $75 for the service call. I guess when they got the regulator on and hooked up they kept finding other problems, but everything except the battery is covered. Hows the garden? Struggling. It's been pretty dry. Can't ever remember watering this early. Corn is having trouble germinating for some reason. Don't know why. Not one watermelon seed germinated. Weird. A lot of my squash didn't germinate either. Hope you don't have anymore trouble with it. Service person give any indication why the regulator went bad? Should not be susceptible to line surges. Would be concerning with that kind of investment when the warranty does run out. We were going to get a standby generator, funds have gone to paying for materials for the house we were shorted on. About one in every 5 seeds germinated. Same with cucumbers, but it was brand new seed. Been watering here pretty well since planting. Driest I can remember it being this time of the year, ever. Has looked like August here since last month. You know about our corn, funny what one crow hanging on a t post will do to act as a scare crow. Replanted with a different corn, person at the nursery told me it was about the same maturation as peaches and cream, but after checking it is an 89 day corn, so our corn will be real late, late corn here is typically usually not that great unless you water it pretty well daily. Tominator
wow. tough year so far. i never heard if your job is secure for next year. that would be one plus... Union concessions saved me and 2 other teachers for next year, but if the levy doesn't pass, I'm afraid I'll be in the same boat again. I'm going back to school for my 3rd license in special ed. That starts August 9th. I had a good conversation with one of the board members right before graduation. I told him my plans for changing the business curriculum and asked him for his help. He seemed positive about it and it left me feeling better about the situation. I'm hoping that showing him my initiative on making change might make them think twice about killing the whole business program. I will actually need to stay employed 2 years in order to bump a special ed. teacher if it comes to that. Good most of it was covered Chris. Hope you don't have anymore trouble with it. Service person give any indication why the regulator went bad? I asked the same question. He said "we've had a few go bad." No real indication. I am pretty concerned that they found so many things wrong with the unit after they put the new regulator on. They were working on it for probably 2 hours. It does make me wonder how much I'm going to dump into this thing when it's out of warranty. Wonder sometimes if it's worth i New seed? Been watering here pretty well since planting. Driest I can remember it being this time of the year, ever. Has looked like August here since last month. Yeah, I wondered the same thing too, lol. Makes me want to go check the co-op where I got the seed, but I think it's just the lousy weather conditions. No rain, then down pours which makes my clay like concrete and the seed has a tough time breaking the surface. Then a week in the 90's, then a week in the 70's, back and forth. We haven't had substantial rain in probably a month. It's July dry out there now. To top it all off, my 6 month cancer check up is right around the corner. Can't wait to hear that news... dbHunterNY
well hopefully the check up goes well then you'll be around longer to care about all this fun summer stuff. lol have the same problems with gardens around here and clay. forms a crust harder than a dried up stream bed. you just keep watering and the seed will take, in my experience. had car issues but things seem to be in the clear and the dummy light stays off now. my generac 10kW generator has "no RPM sensed" issues were it doesn't fire up and prime right away. if i start it up manually it fires up and after that it will automatically kick on with no issues. for now i just left it off until i can deal with it. wtnhunt
I could start a list here, but that would probably be pretty depressing. Hope the 6 month checkup goes well Chris, will keep you in our prayers.
