Remington 887

Recommended Posts

I was duck hunting in Arkansas last December. There was a guy using a 887, it was jamming on him constantly.I don't know how he takes care of his equipment but I wasn't very inpressed with the 887.I would stick with a 870.I have never had any problems with my 870 super mag!

The 887 can't be babied, if you cycle the 887 too slow it will stick / jam.

I've ran box after box of different makes and loads through mine and I can't get it to jam, I let my buddy shoot it once and he jams the 3rd, round ... go figure ... So I reload it and shoot it with zero problems, I let him shoot it again and he jams it again, but this time I was watching ,,, I clear the weapon and reload it for him and this time I tell him to be a man and cycle the action hard and fast ... BINGO, no more problems for the rest of the session ... ;)

This is my 887 Nitro Mag ...

Here is a video of one of my turkey hunts with the 887, it's a little long but keep watching, the 887 actually helps me save a bird for the oven .... :)

Not the same gun, but I had the same "problem" with my Browning BPS. But it does seem to get better with every box of shells that go through it.

Biggest issue I have with it now is keeping my hand far enough forward so it's not in the way of the bottom eject. Which I should anyway, but sometimes I get too excited.
