Slash
Anybody have any suggestions on an affordable treestand online or in stores? I'm looking for something a little more comfortable than the older stands around the farm, and with a larger platform for my size 14 feet
mhampel82
New Treestand? I picked up a cheap gorilla climber from bass pro last year and it is great. I can not remember the name of it off the top of my head but it was around $150 or so. It is very light weight and works great. Hope this helps. Maine Hntr
Just picked up a Big Game Combo (Treestand, 3 climbing sections, EZ Hanger and rope hoist) from Bass Pro for $134 thought it was a pretty good deal. I just set it up last weekend and it set up very quickly and easily. There is assembly required but if you're tool saavy it's pretty simple to do. Good Luck
wtnhunt
Ladder, hang on, or climber Andy? Climber, it is hard to beat a summit for comfort. Hang on and ladders I really cannot say, there is plenty of choices out there though. I need to pick up another stand or two myself for this year and thinking about going with an ameristep if our wal mart carries them again. Haven't gotten into using climbers much over the past few years, probably because I'm spoiled by Martin and get to hang permanent stands at the farm. There was a Bone Collector stand at Wal-Mart last year, I think it was around $89.99 with x-large platform, arm rests and instead of a spinning seat it had 3 straps running underneath the seat pad, pretty comfortable but sort of limits radius with a bow for obvious reasons. Rhino
Wish I could recommend a comfortable stand that fell into what most consider the affordable range Slash. I hate to say it but I quit looking at prices and just looked for the most comfortable stands I could possibly find. The more comfortable I am, the longer I can stay in the stand and keep still. I settled on the New Millennium stands. They aren't what you'd call affordable but they sure are the most comfortable stands I've ever used. I have 11 of their ladders (20' & 21') & 3 of their hang on stands now.
Strut10
Was gonna recommend one by Guide Gear (Sportsman's Guide) that's around $60 and ALL DAY, EVERY DAY comfortable. But it appears that they have changed the design and removed the footrest............which will be a deal killer if that's the case.
Ravin R10 man
I know the tree lounges are going up (as hang ons) Slash...and..we may be going stand shopping ..possibly next weekend we can go check Gander and Dunhams
Slash
I know the tree lounges are going up (as hang ons) Slash...and..we may be going stand shopping ..possibly next weekend we can go check Gander and Dunhams Those tree lounges just don't seem to be appropriate for bowhunting. Don't get me wrong, they're dang comfortable, but you sit so low you're practically laying down, and then to try and sit up to make a proper shot on a deer seems a little awkward. Maybe it's just me being picky, but I think shopping next weekend sounds like a good plan

dbHunterNY
yea i use a lone wolf alpha hang-on, cheapest i've seen it is $200. it doesn't have arm rests, a front bar, and a bunch of that other stuff. i don't want that stuff for bowhunting. muddy outfitter hangon is also a nice stand. both have massive platforms, but are an open design for bowhunting. that's $150. Summit rsx osprey i hear isn't a bad stand, but i haven't used one.

Cabelas has a few of the millenium hang on's that look reasonably priced compared to others Cabela's: Hang-On Treestands. Dunno how comfortable those would be though. Ravin R10 man
Good plan! Should be like 2 kids in a candy store with all the choices you'll have. ACTUALLY IT WAS 3 KIDS..BREYLEN WAS WITH!!....lol with Andy's size 14 feet he liked the "Bigfoot" stand at Gander...GO FIGURE! The tree lounges can be adjusted to a steeper angle..you dont have to be laying down...it's just a bit tougher to take a nap Edited July 22, 2012 by Mathews XT Man

Dunno how comfortable those would be though. Actually William, they are the most comfortable stands I've ever used. I have 3 of the M100's that have the full chair type folding seat. I bought one of the M50's yesterday because I have a certain tree in MO to hang it in to hunt a funnel and there's only one tree positioned right to hunt that spot. The M50 is adjustable for trees that are a little crooked & I'll be able to deal with that now. The M100 isn't adjustable so you have find a spot that's close to level in the tree. with Andy's size 14 feet he liked the "Bigfoot" stand at Gander...GO FIGURE! LMBO...imagine that!!! Flintlock1776
I used Ol Mn climbers as well as API. I like a climber that has a gun rest just to give me that closed in feeling and someplace to rest my bow or gun.
Outlander500
Check out Big Dog stands, they have several different styles and are very resonable priced as well. Also I just bought a Summit Viper Classic for $189, it's a climber andhas come very highly recommended for its comfort and ease of use. snapper
The most comfortable stand I have is a gorilla lock on with a large platform and foot rest. With that said...I feel tree placement is most important. My gorilla is in a large maple...slightly leaning back with no knots or limbs where your back rests against the tree!
