I disagree strongly ... I would never let someone (just because they are an adult and seem responsible) check to see if the gun was loaded, unless I had first checked it myself .....why ???....because, I would be assuming that the person I was handing it to, even knows what the gun's chamber is ...LOL.

It was his responsibilty and his alone, especially in a class-room full of potentially gun ignorant people.

He should have checked it before going to the school and again as soon as he pulled it out of his holster, then maybe asked the teacher to walk over to him, to varify the chamber was empty, by pointing to it's location himself.

I thought that was what I said. He checks it first, then get's a responsible adult (meaning someone who has a knowledge of firearms) to check it too.

This is bad for everyone, the kids had to see this ,yes it taught them a lesson but like was said probably won't have anything to do with guns!!
