I had a cva optima pro it was a good gun but heavey and just didn't feel right to me.You need to try out different guns and feel whats good to you! fly
I have two. A Remington Genesis and a Traditions. I have a Nikon Buckmasters on one and a Cabelas Alpha series on the other. They both are very accurate (I've only practiced out to 100 yards and can hit a grapefruit every time - unless I jerk). Both guns and scopes cost me about 500.00 total. Perhaps over time and further distances the higher priced ML's will show their worth, but if a 175 dollar gun gets the bullet where it needs to be at 100 yards then that's all I need. I've shot CVA as well and it was accurate. I think you can expect most any ML to be very accurate at least out to 100 yards.
wtnhunt
With whatever you end up with you will want to work up loads to see what your gun likes best. Plenty of good options with modern ml'ers, find one that you like. For a pretty good while now we have used a tc black diamond. Have killed deer anywhere from 30 yards on out to about 165 yards and killed a yote last year with the gun a little further out than that. Bought a cva accura this year, got to do some shooting soon to see what the optimal powder powder charge and bullet will be for that gun. Nothing wrong with the tc, added the cva so we could get another hunter in the woods during our ml'er season as it is typically the best time here for killing a good buck. wtnhunt
Be sure to check out Realtree: Bluelk. Some good info there.
dbHunterNY
depends on what you want for features to make your life easier. I've had great experiences with TC Omega, TC ProHunter, TC Triumph, and CVA Optima. The gun I own and shoot is a ProHunter. The Optima has all the same features, but side by side the Prohunter and TC feel more robust. I've gotten them all to shoot darn good though. Do yourself a favor and find Blackhorn 209 powder and just shoot that with your new gun. right now i'm stuck using up the rest of my Triple-7 powder with Hornady 250gr SST low drag sabots. With those Hornady sabots I've had mixed blood trail results, but i can get them to shoot sub-MOA.
too_pointer
Muzzle loading is lots of fun. You might do better to ask this question in the muzzleloader room. Good luck with what you decide on. too_
Maine Hntr
I have a T/C Omega, Black w/black barrel. Just put a Nikon scope on it last year and love it (although it always shot well with open sights)! Great Gun!
Flintlock1776
I have a Remington 700ML topped with a Leupold Ultimate Slam scope. Works real well.
hoosierhunter
muzzleloader poll question ! Traditions gun. Ambush i think. It's the one before the vortex. I've killed 6 does in 3 years with it out to 165 yards. I can shoot 2 inch groups at 100 and I've only shot 200 three times but they grouped at 7 inches. T/C is exactly like Mathews, they used to be way ahead but now they rely on that memory and are over priced.
PotashRLS
T/C Encore has treated me very well. I load it up with 120gr. of fffg Pioneer Powder and Hornady 300gr. SSTs. Very Accurate! The trigger on my Encore is probably the sweetest of all my rifles. Of all the sabots my brother and I used over the last 15 years or so, Powerbelts gave the poorest blood trails and penetration. They were however easy to load and accurate from all my previous muzzleloaders.

I actually dug two of the bullets out of the tree and they were darn near shootable. No expansion whatsoever.
arrow32
Well I have 4. My number one hunting ML until this year has always been my knight Wolverine to much of a pain to clean so not using it this year that and I got a new one I want to try. Now what I'll be using is a Traditions Vortek pistol thing is sweet. Shoots dead on and dont hurt the wallet to bad. Pretty nice if you want a pistol. This year for a rifle to use ML hunting in going to use my New England firearms break down .50 cal never hunted with it so no real info about how I like it in the woods. Also got a Traditions Grey Hawk I have yet to shoot. So not sure about it either.

Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
T/C Encore Yep. What I shoot as well. My dad has a T/C Triumph and that's a a nice M/L too. Can't go wrong with a T/C
WStreblo
muzzleloader poll question ! I usually kill all my deer before m'loader season! I have two m'loaders myself and I like my CVA, but I agree with most everyone in here, find the one you are most comfortable with... That will be one less thing on your mind, once you got that figured out mix and match powders and bullets to find the ones your gun shoots the best.
