rhine16
Freshened both these licks on the 20th. This first one had been completely decimated of any salt that was in it. Took until mid morning today until this young 8 found it. Fairly happy with my $33 tasco. Then I walked the half mile or so to my other lick, and found that the clover plot was covered up with deer. Counted 8 before being seen and the field clearing, two were definitely bucks but not sure how big. Was upset to find that my cuddeback had failed to work in the dark for the first several days it was out. Mysteriously started working last night it seems. Maybe something to do with battery life..? This was the best of the ones I could see. Not as mature as I'd like for him to be, but he'll cause me to put tension on my string for sure. This was one of the few blurred out pics that I could make out a rack in. Deer seems to have a large frame... May be the same deer as above This little spike is going to have an interesting look. Apparently damaged in velvet. Here's a young 6 Think this is a separate deer from the six. This one got the wrong directions on which way he's supposed to lick from. And a jake... redkneck
Don't know I'd its the same buck or not Rhine, but I'd be itching to draw on him. He should be adding a few more inches too.
hoosierhunter
today's pull Trail cams have added so much to hunting IMO. Nice pics too. My cudde did the exact same thing, stopped working at night. So I bought a bushnell and then the thing started working again.

Rhino
No question about the 11 point being on the hit list...very nice, especially for a MS buck! As you know he has a lot more time to add bone. Unlike most other areas of the country, MS bucks start antler growth later and they fill out later. BTW...I don't own an IR Cudde cams but have several friends that do. I know 3 of them have had issues with either the IR cam or the daylight cam not switchign over or working at some time or another. One that had IR issues would go from working to giving black or snow covered looking black IR pics right before it cratered. The last time one had issues Cudde said they'd give them a disount deal on an Attack to swap it out but the amount of $ was negligible. The cam was 3 years old. dbHunterNY
i've had cams other than Cuddeback do the same thing. Light hitting the sensor, battery life, and all kinds of stuff can contribute to it. Lately one cam has been waiting too long to switch over to using flash. Anyway, looks like nice deer reguardless. Where i hunt i wouldn't be able to keep that six alive if i jumped in front of a bullet or arrow. lol
rhine16
today's pull Hopefully the battery power was all that was contributing to the bad pics. No way to tell of the batteries were old or not, but it's been out for a month an a half so I'm switching them. Hopefully the bigger buck will fill out a lot more. I could pass him if I knew he'd make it, but me being bow only and having plenty of rifles around me, I won't let him live if given an opportunity. Also if you remember, I shot a lesser buck last season. It's easy to say pass in July and August... It's a whole different Ballgame in December. rhine16
This December just pretend that doe has horns. Hoosier, I think I could pass up good deer with the best of them, but when you go bow only down here your chances have totally declined. I'm going to shoot 3.5 year olds and better when I get the opportunity... At least until I have enough land and a perfect group of folks that will let them go also. I had two really good 3 year olds on cam last year that I wouldve loved to have seen make it, but they both fell to rifles. One to my dad, one to my uncle... And they were happy with them, so I have to take my chances when I get them. Here are those bucks
hoosierhunter
today's pull Rhine it can be tough. I just go by the theory that there might be a 90% chance someone kills that deer but if I do he's 100% dead. It drives me crazy with my neighbors too. In 2010 I lost my 3 most promising three year olds after I'd passed them all earlier in the year. Nothing we can do except keep passing and hope a few make it. Rhino
Rhine...I think hoosier was talking about what dbHunter said about the 6 point...not the 11 point. I see you added a couple more nice ones too!
hoosierhunter
today's pull Oh yeah I wasn't talking about passing that 11. I was just saying in general if a young buck tempts you late to take it out on the doe.
wtnhunt
That is a nice deer Rhine. Al is right, still some time to grow yet too. Too bad about the cudde, frustrating when you pull a card and have issues.
