dbHunterNY
Local 3D league was tonight again. I've been fighting with something many long time or serious archers deal with to some extent at some point. i shot a 303/330 tonight with a big ol' goose egg as part of my score. i asked the guys if i could shoot another arrow after i missed, that wouldn't count towards my score, to ease my mind. i shot an 11 (bullseye). i would've shot a 314/330, my best shooting ever. Turkeygirl
Punching the trigger? I think I deal with it to an extent...
dbHunterNY
well, yea a form of target panic. i just barely started to do that a while back. before i really formed the habit i willed myself to learn and not squeeze the trigger like that. i was fine for a little while. then recently something different, in anticipation of the shot i'll shake/twitch a bit but not actually punch of trigger or apply any more pressure at all. well i'm starting to minimize that, but notice after doing it, fatigue starts to set in. this causes me at times start to collapse my form a little. gets me in trouble because it'll cause the string to want to take off from lessening too much back pressure. that makes you shoot a bad shot or let one rip right over the target from trying to save it by drawing back instead of letting down. if i just try to keep good form, proper back tension, and pull through my release i'll be alright. i shot 17 X's (could've been 18) out of 30 targets and some of our targets can be out to 40 yards. if i just get this thing under control i'll be doing well.
