rage man
I have an 02 Tacoma that keeps blowing the 4x4 fuse. It blows as soon as I turn the key on. Anyone had any experience with this or have any ideas where I should start
Shaun_300
Definitely a dead short on that circuit, take the fuse out and take a two wire headlight bulb like a 9006 or 9005 with two wires attached to the terminals, then stick the other ends of the wire where the 2 terminals in the fuse block are. When your key is turned on it will light up full brilliance. Get someone to watch the bulb and wiggle the wires under the hood, down by the transfer case and front diff, if you see the light start to flicker or go out, you've found the area where your short is. Shaun_300
Yep simple little trick of the trade! Always have power on one side of the fuse and if the other side is shorted to ground the bulb will be lit. As soon as it goes out as you wiggle the wiring you know where the short is.
