Jeramie Posted August 6, 2012 Report Share Posted August 6, 2012 We are in a BAD hurt here. Im sure everyone has seen the wildfires on TV. Last week my wife and I were driving in Tulsa (71st and 169 to be exact) and the outdoor temperature gauge on the truck was at 120F. We have been well over 100F for weeks. A couple of days ago it dropped to 103F and it felt much cooler.... that is sad. For several days over the past couple of weeks we have been the hotspot of the nation. I hate it for the fire fighters who are fighting the blaze in this heat. This morning on the way out we were sitting on 67F and it actually felt cold! We got 1/10" of rain last night. Thats the most we have had in a long time. Everything is dried out. Our ground is even cracking. Hay is going to be next to impossible to find this year. I have about 150 square bales (not enough) and im glad to have those. They are somewhat junky but I could still sale them for about $6 - $7 each. Round bales are already running $60 - $70 for a 4x5. Its a bad situation. Promise is in sight. The news is showing mid 90's by the end of this week. That is SOOOOO welcome. Blazes are still out of control but with cooler temps coming they hope to have them under control this week... Still not a good situation. Many, many people have lost homes, businesses, etc. Power is out everywhere from the power poles burning to the ground, thousands of acres lost. Everyone please toss a prayer this way when you talk to the good Lord. Us Okies sure could use it. ckrich Posted August 6, 2012 Report Share Posted August 6, 2012 Luckily I live about 20 minutes east of the fires, so my home wasn't in danger. However, three of my closest friends have homes located right in the middle of the disaster area, and amazingly they were all able to save their homes. One of the guys share a few pictures on his Facebook page a while ago. Rice straw was being hauled in from LA in place of hay.....it was rough. East Texas is somewhat out but not completely safe now. We are actually running a few degrees cooler this year than last. Many of the highways have restricted access, police checkpoints are in place and only letting residents in. Other checkpoints are blocking access period in certain "hot spots" where small fires have been flaring up. My friend's house is still without power and is located on the edge of a "red zone" with extremely limited access due to a few people still missing. Folks thought the Emu was going to be a money making machine but that wasn't the case. Overnight the prices on those things plummeted and folks were releasing them left and right. For a while you could drive down just about any given dirt road and spot an Emu. I've seen them while driving down the highway. Anyways, I've heard we are about to see a change in weather patterns. According to the source, there is a good chance of rain coming for these drought stricken areas. I'm not sure when or how long before this change occurs. Hopefully it includes you guys too. I remember that too. Emu were everywhere! People are letting horses go. Because of the fire there have also been stations setup where people can take horses and leave them until the fire is gone. My wife and I talked about it the other night. Im betting at the end of the blaze a lot of the horses are just left behind.. Ive noticed a lot of donkeys being turned loose too. This year we didn't take the risk of spending the $ to plant them & now all this rain. A friend of mine that hunt's about 5 miles from us said their summer plots are lush. As of right now they think the primary cause is someone who ignored the burn ban and burned trash starting a fire that is over 8-miles wide and 15 miles long. Sure hope we can get a handle on things. Im sure they would appreciate the help. As of right now there have been 208 confirmed houses burned to ash. They expect that number to climb over 300.... Thousands of structures (outbuildings, barns, etc.) are gone as well as thousands of bales of hay. Hay was already bad due to the drought. Not picking on you Kat..but could it be that looking the other way, and even allowing a sinful lifestyle into the church, and some homosexuals are even leading worship services as clergy/ pastors. We are to love the sinner, but hate the sin..are we? I know God's laws have not changed, but America sure has. I hope you read the whole article, I think it pretty much sums up the stuation in the U.S. and it aligns with Gods word the Bible, and how he warns a country before the next step is taken.
