FSU_Seminole
I just got permission to hunt a new piece of land. Whoopi!!!!!!! One side of the property is planted in corn. The other side is planted in this stuff. I have no clue what it is. Down south, I'm used to seeing soybeans, wheat, cotton & peanuts. I think I've seen alfalfa 1 time in my young 39 years. Whatever this stuff is, deer tracks are all in it when we did some scouting yesterday. I was thinking some of you that happen to be farmers or guys from the midwest could tell me what the heck this is.Thanks.
redkneck
Can't tell, may have to get a closer shot. Watch for pointed leaves and helicopters flying over.
MUDRUNNER
It's hard to tell from the picture. Did the plants have any pods on them? At first glance it looks like some sort of pea...cow peas maybe?
Rhino
Yep...Need a closer view of it.

FSU_Seminole
Ok guys thanks for your help, sorry I didn't take a closer picture. Talked with the land owner today, he's not a farmer but he said he's 95% sure its peanuts. Now my question is, how many of you have hunted near or over peanuts? Supposidly deer love them but they grow like potatos in the ground. I guess I'm asking is it best to hunt them after the farmer has started to harvest them or will the deer kick them up from the soil to eat them? wtnhunt
Never have hunted where peanuts were, but have heard like you that deer love them. No idea if they will dig them up or not, but hope you get a good answer because you got me curious too. lol.

Tominator
They're probably just eating the tops, not the actual peanut. I've grown them a couple of times over the years. I don't think they harvest until the tops die off. They do look a bit like peanuts, or maybe taters? I see the ground looks to be mounded up a little.
