VA3
I bought a trail cam last year and another this year. My "dumb" question to you guys is; To view the pictures can I take my digital camera along and take the SD cards out of the trail cams and insert them into the digital camera to view? I don't have nor can I afford a viewer. Also I don't want to take the cam down to bring it home to view on my PC. As you can see I am a first time user of trail cams. Thanks guys. whitetailfreak55
Ya that's what we do is take our camera down and just check the memory card in the field a lot easier that way
Rhino
As long as your camera uses SD cards & recognizes Your trail cam's format you can. You may want to get an extra SD card for each trail cam and swap them out every time you check them. That way you can view them on your computer and see better detail in each pic. Everyone I know does that.

Buy 2 sd cards for every camera, so when you check them you just swap the cards out and bring the card back home and view it on the computer. I save all my trail cam pics anyway on a thumbdrive so I can go back and look at pics from previous seasons if I want.

Makes it a quick trip so I'm not spreading to much scent standing around looking at them. I have tried to look at the pics on my small digital camera. Most of the pictures show up but there is always one or two that says that it is not able to view the image.
dbHunterNY
yea same here... it depends on how long you leave them out and how big of a card the cam can take, but i have a bunch of 2GB cards. Swap one for the another. Keep them in separate pockets and be aware of what you're doing. lol don't mix them up and remember to turn your camera back on before you leave. any halfway decent digital camera should work to read them (the same format) yes. ...welcome to the forums. swohiodave
I take a camera to quickly look at the pics but i also bring the cards home. Changing them out is way easier and my camera screen is not large enough to see detail.
