south eastern. windsor county. im guessing your around Albany area? im originally from there but stationed down here in Virginia. getting out in October. heading back that way for good. and cant wait to get there. ill be hitting the tail end of archery and get in a full rifle finally. kind of was hoping some one on here was having some sort of luck up there since i have been shut out the last three years. im thinking about exploring more of that once i get home. how is New York hunting?

good to hear you'll be able to get out this season. right around the opening of rifle is when action around here heats up. basically, just like anywhere else in the northeast. hunting is good if you can keep bucks alive until maturity. this past season there was a couple bucks taken around here that met P&Y. a guy i know of that hunts private land in Albany even took a 155" buck.

I like every hunter want the mature deer but i also want meat. There's a antler law in Vermont that has been in effect for as long as i can remember. so spikes and buttons are out. saw a nice eight or nine last year but of or range. where i go to the woods is on the back side of a heavily hunted piece of public land so i figure the pressure will push a nice size buck my way. nothing in the range of 155 though. do you know if he had it mounted? i know i would. where im from thats a monster.

very light pressure and getting in and out without spooking deer and it sounds like you've got a decent spot. yea 155 isn't completely feasible and it's a monster anywhere. basically a 120+" 3.5 - 4.5 year old is more realistic for around here. if you can get a buck into 5.5 and 6.5 that's a different story... we've got genetics to grow bigger than 120". he definitely did get it mounted. don't have any pictures or know if it's done though.
