Norm Sauceman
One of our Olympians ran his race, won second place then grabbed the American flag AND the flag of Mexico and waved them both....how do you feel about this? His parents came here illegally when he was a kid...I am not too happy about it at all...it is a disgrace, I feel...What say You?

Shaun_300
Nice to see you around Norm! I think it's ridiculous as a neighbor Canadian supporting the USA like family. Like m gardener said, deport the whole works of them!
mkh
His history is from Mexico and he is a US citizen. We all came from somewhere, unless you are native American, he ran for the US and won for the US what does it matter if he is showing the pride of his heritage even if it was illegal every person coming to America was illegal at one time. colorado bob
Pretty sure I've seen the Irish flag in St Patties Day parades. Same with the Italian flag on Columbus Day. They still speak Polish in parts of Pittsburgh. Everyone came form somewhere.
Dawg
Its a disgrace. Period. That goes for the St Patties parade and all. You are in the USA, fly our flag. If you want to fly the Mexican, Italian, Irish or any other flag, move there and fly it till you turn blue in the face but if you're going to be in America fly the American flag. Patriotism......not what it used to be.
Ethan Givan
I dont like it either. I also dont like it that several NBA players are playing on Olympic basketball teams for other countries. If you make your millions in the NBA from American fans, for American teams, then you shouldnt play in the Olympics for another country. Play for team USA or dont play at all. clrj3514
I'm generally a believer in live & let live myself. However some things do irk my nerves. While I'm not exactly happy about this I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing if I was in the same situation. It seems like just another thing for some people to piss & moan about to me and that is hurting our country.

What's hurting our country is the liberal mentality that is slowly but surely choking it. No disrespect to you Chris, but the "live and let live" is not the way for America to regain what it has lost. It's part of the reason we have to press 1 for English my friend. We've got to take a stand for something or we'll fall for anything.

We as a whole have been tried to push into everything and accept it not to hurt people's feelings. I'm sorry kick em out. Take back what's ours the true American way. I think anyone can come here but don't try and change our language and our things.

There has never been a multi-cultural country that has survived so by tolerating this you are sealing your own fate (remember the Romans?). You think it irks us? My Serbian friends who came here as refugees had the same problem and now have no country. They learned english and don't insult us by flying another flag or speaking their native language in our presence.

We've got to take a stand for something or we'll fall for anything. I've got no problem with you standing on your beliefs, I actually admire it. What I mean by "live & let live" isn't changing our country, it's allowing people to do as the please within the laws of our constitution without trying to hinder their rights. That's also where the pissing & moaning I spoke of comes in. We can stand on our beliefs among people that believe the same as we do, but until we take an actual stand we're just preaching to the choir. The saddest thing is though, it's not gonna do us a bit of good to fight for what our minority believes in until majority of the nation turns to God where our country was founded. m gardner
Our current plight is illustrated by the relationship the Israelites had with God. They turned to God and begged to be saved, then gradually forgot who was resposible for their easy lives and success, turning to idolitry. Same with America. God said "Nebarcanezzar is my servant" and used him to crush His people. Maybe Obama is God's servant also. From the way things look Obama will get another term. This may call for patient endurance on the part of the saints or so I've read somewhere.

wtnhunt
My thoughts are there is a time and place for everything. Having pride in your country is not the same as having pride in your heritage and should not be confused. Either the USA put the olympian there or Mexico did, he should have made the choice who he was going to compete for and waved that flag only. dbHunterNY
by all means show and be proud of your heritage. i'm with what william said though, there's a time and place for everything. him being on team USA was most likely a big part of what allowed him to medal and is a big part of his future. i think for that he owe's it to this nation to fly the US flag. if it was another world competition whatever. in the olympics you're there representing a country. that said his family needs to earn their US citizenship, temp visit like vacation, or get the boot back to Mexico; no free loading. i've got zero tolerance for illegal immigrants. others worked for their right to stay so why can't you. also pressing 1 for english i'm ok with, because business isn't isolated to just the US. HOWEVER, again if you live here you better darn well learn to speak the language.
