Scbasshunter
As everyone in this forum probably knows by now, I will be hunting the start of archery season this coming weekend on a soybean field. This will be my first season really trying to hunt with a bow. Is it as hard to get a shot at a young buck as it is a mature one? I know this sounds bad but I just want to get my first one out of the way. I realize I can't just walk up to a young buck, but can I relax a little bit in hunting a younger buck? hoosierhunter
Old and young bucks. Treat every deer the same. You never know when a big buck is lurking and watching. Short cuts just hurt you in the long run.

Zizzer59
Old and young bucks. I still get the butterflies in my stomach even if it's a button buck
Adjam5
Many times a old buck will let the younger buck go out or expose himself first. They don't get to be old by being stupid. I too get jitters when ANY deer steps out in bow range. But then its time to go into hunter mode and let the muscle memory from all your practice shooting go to work. Don't underestimate the smarts of any deer. Treat them all the same. A lead doe is the smartest deer in the woods. Keep that in mind. Hunt safe. bowhunter97
A lead doe is the smartest deer in the woods. Keep that in mind. Hunt safe. Very true. A few years ago i climbed a tree on a WMA and about 2 hours after getting settled a doe came out of a trail and she was staring at me the whole time as soon as she exited the trail. Soon after she came out another doe followed.
