hoosierhunter
Given these 4 major issues, how can you support a party that believes this? 1-fair share. Why should I pay more because I've worked to be successful as compared to the person who doesn't make as much money as me? Would you tell your kid in school to forfeit his A average to a B so the D kid could have a C? 2-gun control-you honestly believe that stricter gun control would prevent crime? 3-big govt- most people call the govt running a nation socialism. If business fails then it fails. Maybe then companies would do things correctly instead of counting on govt to bail them out. 4-unions- does anyone honestly Believe in today's society that a company would stay in business that mistreats workers. Unions mattered 75 years ago. It's not the case now. So what major issue did I leave out that makes someone a democrat?
Jeramie
I know in most local cases its old blue dog democrats they believe the way the old democrats thought. They don’t realize how much their party has changed. I think a BIG majority of the Democratic Party is ignorant to the facts. My dad was an old democrat. I took him to a gun show where he joined the NRA. He started getting their magazine and it opened his eyes (Dad LOVES guns). He started doing more research and soon enough realized there was a BIG change from the old Blue Dogs. I think this is the case in a lot of the situations. Strut10
My take on the democrats in this area is this: There are two kinds. The first kind are the educators. Our county seat is a state university town. There are way too many folks around that have been educated beyond their intelligence. Academia generally = democrat. The other kind are the ones whose daddy was a democrat, his daddy was a democrat and they told him he was one too. Ask this type a few litmus questions and his belief system proves him to be a conservative. But he's a straight-ticket jackarse through and through. Ravin R10 man
If you beleive someone, or the Government "OWES" you something, or you can get a grant, disability check, welfare stamps, (even though you can work), and beleive the "Unions" have your best interest in mind..YOU can be a Demacrat. The "giveme" society. Its sad and very, very true. When everyone wants to ride, who's going to pull the wagon?
Dawg
Not many of the old Blue Dog D's around nowadays. The Democratic party has gotten so bad (IMO) that even locally I won't vote for anyone running on that ballot. Our sheriff runs on the D ballot and he's a good straight laced guy. He and my dad have known each other for a long time....but he didn't get my vote this year. His opponent, who was his Deputy Sheriff, is running on the R ballot. He too is a good straight laced guy and he got my vote. However, the GOP ain't too far behind the Demo's. If they don't straighten up I'll be switching to Independent. wtnhunt
Today's democratic party is not the democratic party of old. Unfortuntately over time it has gone further and further to the left leaning more and more towards socialism. Sad truth is that we live in a society now where there is a growing number of people who are content with living off the "government", which leads way to socialism, no surprise that those people would vote for those who are gonna give them what others work for. Picture painted by the liberals is that the wealthy can afford it, reality is that middle class are the ones being hit the hardest by the liberal ideals. wtnhunt
So what major issue did I leave out that makes someone a democrat? Look at how society has changed and it is pretty easy to see the answer, we live in country where more and more feel they are entitled to....... Years ago there were programs set up solely to assist those who were in need and in most cases people stayed on them only long enough to get on their feet, now we have programs that have become a way of life. Only makes sense that those with no ambition to get further in their life would support the "robinhood" mentality. It is insane the type of "programs" that exist today, one that really irritates me is the "free" cell phones for those who have no desire to work. m gardner
I'm Libertarian. I have bad news for you. If you believe that it is as simple as voting republican to straighten out this mess you are going to be badly surprised. Government has gotten bigger no matter who was in office. The governement is also in the business of protecting itself so the only way to make it smaller is if there is an economic collapse and it dies because of it. Check out the levels of the Baltic Index chart. Notice where it was when the market crashed in 2008, where it stabilized after our "recovery" and where it's been since last january. We'll be able to rebuild soon from the looks of things. DryShips Inc.
redkneck
I'm with Mark. If you think republicans have this country's best interests in mind your crazy. The world ain't black and white or red and blue, I vote republican cuz it's the lesser of two evils. Both parties are selling us out. Bush spent us in a hole, now Obama is digging it deeper. I'll vote the Romney ticket but I really don't like the guy.
Ravin R10 man
Ross Pero was right; We need to clean out the barn folks! Both side of the isle! Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.." -- Winston Churchill 1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity. 2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. 3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. 4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. 5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them;and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.
