once its determined that your bow and arrows are properlry tuned, then start close and keep an eye on your shooting form. i know we all want to start out flinging arrows at long distance, but the basics of shooting start close.

focus on making quality shots and not quantity. focus on your grip, bow arm position, draw arm position and shot execution. keep your shooting at 20 yards for a while. when you can make lots of good shots in a row, then slowly move out to find you max distance. when you get to the next distance, then stay there until you get that distance down. i like for new shooters to go in increments of 5 yards. so 20, 25, 30, 35 and so on.

also at close distance, its best if you use multiple targets and dots to shot at. one arrow per dot if possible. i do not like to hammer my hunting arrows in groups.

Another thing is you'll have to find if you prefer to shoot with one eye or both eyes open. There's postives for both. The common way is to focus on your pins and not the target, or atleast that is what I was taught. I don't do it though, I focus on my target, and leave both eyes open. Aim small miss small! You'll just have to find out what works best for you.
