kcall
What food source can I plant on an old logging road with a few hours of sun each day? I was thinking about rye grass.
wtnhunt
Rye grain would be what I would go with, some clovers are shade tolerant too.
dbHunterNY
depends on what's around... if you don't have a lot of late season food sources then go with that. otherwise, shade tolerant clover is good. remember though even that does better if you keep the sides trimmed back. kcall
food source Keep the sides of what trimmed back? And I'll look at some shade tolerant clover!
FSU_Seminole
I bought a couple of bags of the biologic HOTSPOT. People swear this stuff. Its got peas, clover and buck wheat in it. Its suppose to be shade tolerant and withstands grazing pressure. Supposidly you can plant it with a rake and hand spreader for spots like you're talking about. 535hunter
Im glad you brought it up. Got 53 acres that has some logging roads on it so instead of clearing a spot why not use whats already there. Where did you pick up the biologic?
