Discouraging *sniff sniff*

Went out to the lease yesterday evening. Haven't been out there since the close of the 2011/12 season. Some folks might frown upon that but I don't feed year round, can't afford it and besides that my system goes into fishing mode at the end of deer season, so there's really no reason to go out there......anywho......what I saw and what I didn't see was kinda discouraging.

I put out a mineral block July of 2011....that's last year.......and there is still part of that block left. I thought for sure it would be gone. Looked around at two different stands and didn't see any sign whatsoever......nada, none, zilch, zero.....

With the spring rains that we got I thought for sure we would have some deer move back in after last years drought pulled them out of our area and closer to the main water sources.

I had some Big 6 Mineral Salt with me so I poured it out...hoping that might get some kind of action....not expecting much though as there wasn't any sign of deer around there.

Not sure I'll even put out my camera until it gets colder......

That's a BUMMER Cory! Is there a food source nearby?

Natural forage on our place Al. We plant winter plots each year. We are land locked between two bigger leases so I'm not sure if they feed year round or have any plots planted throughout the spring/summer.

just an example of what could be happening like where i hunt.i hunt family land of 240 actes.it is mostly, pasture but has big long hollow of mature oaks that used to be a magnet for drawing deer.there are 6 different properties that surround the property.there are cows on the land i hunt with no plots, feeders,or attractants for deer.all other properties have plots, feeders and attractants.deer still come through the property on same trails but due to pressure, rut and on their way to and from the other properties.rarely, does a buck make it past 2.5 years.
