i'm your huckleberry
is there any members that could give me some sound advise for Rocky Mountain Bighorn hunting? Just figured i would put some variety in my season. Lately it's been mostly elk and whitetail, struck out with elk last season, whitetail, well filled the tag last day small buck, but when i took the hide off he was bruised up bad on both sides from the shoulders to the back of the ribs,it looked like a woopin to me ! dbHunterNY
sheep hunting can get expensive so i'm not sure many will be able to post. don't get discouraged if it takes a little while for a reply. you could probably post to bump the thread so i doesn't get lost down the list from inactivity. pointing_dogs_rule
He's in Alberta so that's a great start. Go up around the Canmore area and you will see lots of sheep. I believe that there are some special season for them in that area.... check into the seasons. I saw these when I was on vacation a few years back around the Canmore area. good luck to all the dog

colorado bob
Get the best pair of binco's you can get. I'm talking Lieca or Swaros, You'll use them more than your legs. Cheap ones will give you eye strain & cause a whopper of a headache. A good spotting scope is also a must. I think you can drop down a grade here, I'm thinking Leupold, Nikon. Find the sheep & get above them. They have really good eye sight & will pickup movement in an instant. Go to your library and see if they have "Sheep & Sheep Hunting" by Jack O'connor. It's kind of dated, but it's still the"BiBle" of sheep hunting IMO.
i'm your huckleberry
Very similar eyesight to speed goats,ok,if your above them you probably want to use the natural cover, and move slowly.
