wtnhunt
Had always gone with 3000 miles or 3 months, even on the durango despite the computer never showing it being due. This new impala shows 73% life on the oil with 2600 miles on it, figure I will go ahead and change it at 3000. So, what do you go by? 535hunter
I use mobil 1, 5000. It depends what I'm doing long drive up north ill.change it sooner than needed but just running around locally then around the 5000 mile mark
arrow32
I always change all ours at 3000 miles. But do know quite a few people who run 5000. These oils really probly could hold up to 5000. Guess it all depends on your driving shoot they might last longer i don't know.
MUDRUNNER
I always go by mileage. Never really paid much attention to the 3 month thing. I never go over 3500 miles on an oil change, but I know a lot of these newer vehicles have more time between maintanance intervals.
redkneck
I go about 6k on my silverado, almost all highway miles. Got about 280k on the clock and never had a valve cover off of it. I put whatever is on sale in it too. Go around 10k on the BMW between changes, but it takes 8qts of a high dollar full synthetic. Got about 130k on it almost all highway miles. Today's oil is much improved over what it was a couple decades ago. Can't say the same for the hogwash they call gasoline these days. Shaun_300
I always change the oil in the truck every 3000 miles no matter if the change oil light is on or not. Always have and always will. I've seen some GM's go over 10,000 miles without the oil life monitor kicking on. All 2011+ GM vehicles take Dexos oil which is 99% Synthetic so you could go 5000 miles without worrying, I wouldn't go much over that though... The_Kat
Heres my take on it. Normally I'd change every 5000 in my diesel rig. However GM warranty's their oil life monitor. I was told specifically by the GM dealer that I could go by it. I went 10,000 last time and the oil looked no worse than before.
