Issac

Hunt or be Hunted

'Tis the season now, afterall. Funny how coincidences have a tendancy to happen like that. I had a boss once who planned his dream vacation to Key Largo with his wife in late August once, at which time beforehand I happened to mention that the only thing he had to worry about was a hurricane. He thinks I jinxed him then, because while they were down there a big one slammed right into them, and they were stuck in the hotel the whole time and could not go out anywhere.

I really dislike hurricanes!! With any luck we'll be on the west side which is the best side to be on. But when I talk about hurricanes the further I am away from them the better I am. So anywho, if y'all get a minute in your busy day, please say a prayer for us. :)

Prayers sent.

Issac is still a tropical storm. A whopper of a tropical storm (we are getting rain bands from it in South Carolina!) but it is not a hurricane yet. With some luck it may not develop into a hurricane at all.

Thanks for the prayers! And yes it's still a tropical storm and I'm praying that is doesn't get stronger. Wow! I can't believe you are getting rain bands way over there!

It's now not expected to be a Cat 2 and has been downgraded to a possible Cat 1. Let's hope it keeps weakening. Either way, this is a humongous storm system. I'm at the southern tip of South Carolina's coast. It's raining now.

Heard the Levy just broke and they are under 12 foot of water

Lots of grumbling that this can't just be a CAT 1 storm and do this. The categories are based on wind speed not rainfall. Isaac is an absolute behemoth of a storm system carrying tremendous amounts of rain. It's also barely moving. The longer it lingers the more rain it will drop on one place. That's gonna cause some major flooding.

The predicted storm surge will be well under what the sustained rainfall will cause.

Pray this one moves on quickly.
