Scbasshunter
Does anybody think deer still move through out the middle of the day when its still hot out like it is now. It is getting into the low 90s here still. I was wondering if it would benefit to sit all day one day this weekend.
wtnhunt
Dunno, saw a couple deer mid day here last week, temp was around 95 at the time. Figure if they are thirsty they will get up and get a drink. If I were hunting in the heat mid day I would be near water.
whitetailfreak55
Yep I agree hunt by water. I hunt all day during the rut. Never know what you'll see during the rut
Scbasshunter
No water near my hot spot. Only water in the area that I can hunt this month is the swamp. In that case, I am pretty sure the deer are just staying in the swamp, thus not giving me a shot. The edge of the swamp is the edge of the property line. bowhunter97
Sit all day. Thats what im doing saturday. During the rut deer dont act like they normally do. They do move at different times.
Scbasshunter
We still have a good month and a half until the rut here.
redkneck
If I'm in the stand all day this time of year it's because my mother in law is at the base of the tree.
Adjam5
Hey...Lots of people when they think bait they think food. Think water in dry/hot areas. My buddy in West Texas buried a few large plastic tubs and fills them with water that he brings out with his 4 wheeler. The deer flock to it. The proof is the trail cam pics he has with the does fighting over space at the trough. Like William said...Water. The key to all life...and in this case. Possibly the key to death also:)
arrow32
Like said if I were to hunt all day in that heat I'd be hunting a water source. But with that heat I'd probly not hunt all day
Shoobee
If hot out, then a stand next to water will pay off in the late afternoon when the bucks come out early to drink at it. This is the same strategy that crocodiles use, so it should also work for man. Most stand hunting is productive from predawn to about 10 a.m., and from late afternoon to dark. For the rest of the day you can try to still(walk) hunt. Or you can nap, like the deer do.

speedjunkiejp
I'm debating sitting in the stand all day next Saturday as well. Middle Ga heat though sucks.
Leo
If the bugs are real bad. Watch a field edge closest to the swamp. The deer will sometimes get out in the field middle of the day to get some relief from yellow flies.
