Don't plan on taking anything over 40yds but I DO have my fifth pin set at 50yds. ps. don't mind HoosierHunter....he's a sourpuss that's too opinionated [or rather perfectly opinionated for an online forum] Being your first year I wouldn't shoot over 20yds if possible, but good luck either way. Knew it would react before the arrow smashed it so put the 40 yd pin on the bottom of its rib cage and let it fly. Deer ducked and spun right into the arrow. It was dead before it left the field.
