Ravin R10 man Posted November 15, 2012 Report Share Posted November 15, 2012 shot the guns in today..were ready to go. got a few things to get out to the tower blinds fri. then.just have to get some things tied up on our logging job and another load of corn out Fri. and thats as far as I will get..weekend Im in my stand all day both days..then prob will do what corn I got left mid day monday..and we will see..calling for rain tues wed..so maybe go to log job for a few hours after am hunt and come back at 1;30 or so for eve hunt,,temps to reach nearly 50 by weeks end...good for me.. bad for rut..prob head for field end of week get wrapped up for the year and get ready for late season bow...really look forward to hunting in the snow Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

PS - lows 20's in the AM with a stand expose to the north with the wind hitting me in the face. not looking warm and cozy, but it'll be a good spot. dbHunterNY Posted November 18, 2012 Report Share Posted November 18, 2012 this AM i got into my stand... same one i've hunted for over 10 years and my dad before me. well as it got light i see an orange bobble head 60 yards behind me also in the woods. turns out the neighbors friend got a little close. tried to get his attention by waving and whistling but he was in his own little world so i just sat like he wasn't there. noticed after a while he fell asleep. ended up seeing lots of deer working through the woods on the other side of me. for bucks i ended up seeing half a dozen. all spike bucks except one was a busted up little basket rack. this afternoon i hunted a stand over looking some fields. i just just a ton of doe, no bucks. hunting same spot in the timber in the AM. The Buck had a real bad busted front leg so I decided to put him down...He's a 2-2 1/2 yr. old Buck...Anyway it's points for the team now it's time for me to up grade...So it's back to Bowhunting... dbHunterNY Posted November 21, 2012 Report Share Posted November 21, 2012 just got word with pictures that across the road from my parent's farm a guy hunting on the neighbors shot a 125" 8 pointer. may not seem that big to some but around here that's running the gauntlet around here and will definitely be dodging arrows and bullets. nobody ever saw him on our side. that's the third property that i hunt that's had a big buck or bucks go down from the neighbors. i think the deer got a memo or something regarding my treestand locations despite not being busted or hunting one spot much. hopefully the next four days show some promise. I thought he was right around 30 yards and he ended up being around 36 and i shot right under him. He had a large body on him which fooled me a bit on his rack size.
