dbHunterNY
i wouldn't sweat the 9pt for Team 1... it takes a team effort. like martin said earlier, put a doe on the ground early if you can to get some points. You can upgrade later. Good luck to those of you heading out now or soon. I've got a month yet before i hit to woods and go after them. Not too much on cam yet, but one decent one 8 or 9 pt. I'll make another pull maybe this week.

When I got to the stand it was in the high 30s and by the time I killed the deer and finished quartering it and hanging it in the cooler it was around 52 degrees. I couldn't have asked for better weather. Whats it doing on your side of the country? Cooling down any? Getting any rain?

Been having quite a bit of rain last few days.

Either a .243 30-30 or 30 06 who knows might even throw something else in there. Not decided what I'm going to hunt with yet tho.
dbHunterNY
ended up not getting much to talk about on the camera at my parent's. just little bucks. did see a couple of the huge old doe though. there's a handful of doe on the farm that die of old age. not many get taken. from trail cam pics there depth of body is about 8" more than some of the other doe just reaching maturity. they're by far the toughest to hunt though... they've seen us all in every stand over the years. a lot of the small bucks i'm seeing year after year don't have a clue. dbHunterNY
this afternoon i checked the cam behind the house here. same thing just a little 3 pointer and some doe and fawns. i actually moved my treestand from where i had it last year. tough to hunt back there with the wind running right down through the creek bottom. the new spot lets me see any deer walking down into it with a few trails within bow range. i've got to cut some branches though and it's a cedar. i'm not sure there's a way to keep it from oozing sap and making a mess.
