Update... hunted this weekend for the first time this season. Saturday morning was cold for this early in the season with temps around 30 degrees. saw some doe but no bucks all day. that evening i had a good spot, 30 yards into the woods off an ag field at the farm. however, had some recreational ATV riders drive through and decide to bomb through the field throughout the evening. every time i thought about getting out of the tree they left only to return. :bang: we let them pass on through and stay on the access roads during the summer to get places, but most know not to come through when we post the roads and trails during hunting season. not sure where they came from and apparently they aren't aware it's hunting season around here.

anyway, Sunday was very wet and windy in the AM. i didn't go out then. Sunday evening it cleared up by 1pm so i went on an adventure to the northern edge of the southern zone with my cousin's. it was a big swamp that was state land and publicly hunted. we split up with climbers and bows in hand. found a nice edge where the swamp met a wooded creek edge with converging deer runs. well it turned out to be a good spot made a complete pass through heart shot with a titanium Rage. Problem is we were far out and didn't have a camera. It was warm and is even warmer today, so it we made the decision. it got boned out and on ice before i could get any pictures taken. no worries though would've got us minimal points that i don't have any concern about still matching. i've still got a tag for either sex during early or late bow/muzzeloader season (can be used now). also i've still got my regular season gun tag to be used later in Nov. Sorry for not getting us pictures and points right away. Hunting again this weekend and promise that by the end of the season i'll have us points on the board. Checked some trail cams and they aren't showing the best movement and any big ones yet aside from the one that's not easy to go after yet. I've seen others while scouting though. Good luck everybody!

Well, archery season ended last Sunday (10/14) and although I saw a few racked buck, there was nothing I wanted to sling an arrow at. I did have a young 5x5 at 15 yards that was a bit tempting but given a few more years (if he doesn't get eaten by a wolf) he will be a definite keeper. Tomorrow is the general rifle opener and I'll have to go play in the rain and snow that is predicted for the next week or so. I went for a short hike in the hills this afternoon, got soaked and saw a dozen deer or more, two of which were small buck. One positive was the number of rubs seen. I believe that the buck are starting to feel a little flush of testosterone and with the cooler weather maybe some of the older boys will start moving more. With five weeks of rifle season I should be able to hunt 15 to 20 days and hopefully get it done. Good luck to everyone!

Went out this afternoon, I was huntin public land and I found a really good spot climbed a tree a good 20ft and looked over and 40 yards away was another hunter. I was like CRAP! But I didn't feel like climbing down and makin more noise so I stayed there. At about 4 a really nice fat doe came in at 20 yards but I didn't have a clean shot so I let her walk and she went right over to the other hunter and he missed lol. We kept settin there and at about 4:30 a fawn came in and bedded up right under my stand for a hour or so. Just before dark 4 does and a young buck showed up but they stayed bout 55 60 yards out. When I climbed down I went and said sorry to the other guy for walkin up on him and he said it was no big deal and he told me a few other good spots to try too. We both hiked out together and he was a good sport, I'm glad he was because I woulda been a little upset if someone walked in on me.
