Team 3 - Counting Tines

No luck on day 1 of our first firearms season. Only saw a forkhorn and a doe that were too far away through the woods. It seems like we skipped the chasing phase of the rut and went right into lockdown which is making for tough hunting even with perfect weather. Be back at it in about 8 hours.

No luck for me during our first firearms season. I only saw 7 deer in 2 1/2 days of hunting which is pretty bad for our area. Other hunters in our area are pretty much the same with not much deer movement unless there's a hot doe in the area. My brother was lucky enough to be in one of those areas Saturday morning seeing at least 9 different bucks and only a single doe. He was able to take down a 148" 9 pointer with a 94 yard shot from his muzzleloader at about 11:00 am. He went out that afternoon to try to fill his doe tag and had a bigger buck stand in the wide open at 60 yards for 15 minutes. I'll be back at it with the stick and string for a couple days over the holiday weekend.

Well another unsuccessful season for me! Oh well, just glad I was able to get out for a few days, been battling my illness for the past few months and thankfully I got back on the mend and was able to get out for a few hunts. My best friend shot a nice 11 pointer, another guy in the group got a fork horn and one of the guys' son got a nice 6 pointer. At least we got some deer! But nothing from me this year. We'll see if I can get out with the bow before the season ends in mid December but I honestly doubt I'll be able to make the time to do so with everything going on.

At least you got to get out! If you get back out good luck. And thank you for the congratulations. When i shot him i waited an hour to get down then found my arrow. Followed the blood a little bit and decided to wait till morning. He ended up going into the crick and following it till about 15 yard until the highway so there was no blood trail at all. I decided to crawl up this trail to start back on the opposite side and there he was.

I went to Arkansas to see mom for Thanksgiving. On the way home tonight I hit a buck after a semi barley hit him.I was on I-465 going around Indy.4 lanes with concrete everywhere,I don't know what he was doing there. The semi broke 2 ribs and his spine.I broke his rack and front leg.Only a small piece of plastic that holds my fog light in was broke. It was a huge buck.Yeah I am redneck, I took it home after 2 Indiana state troopers helped me put it in my truck.I'm going to skin him and 1/4 him up tomarrow.I think I'll get alot of meat from him! Sorry no point from the only buck I have got this year.I still got to get my doe scored in the contest.I'm going to wait till our slug season is over,It starts on Monday!

Unfortunately I couldn't get us any points during gun season. Only saw 4 deer all week and they were all moving at mach 3. The deer movement shut down around Halloween and it is because the wolves moved back in. We've been hearing them quite a bit the last few weeks. Friday morning my uncle and I tracked 3 sets for a good half mile. They are bold enough to be eating the leftover food scraps we throw about 10 yards from the cabin. Hopefully I can get a late season doe in a couple weeks.

I am not sure who has the Voo Doo Doll that is wishing all these bad things to happen to me while hunting, but you need to STOP! Ok here is todays story! I had two does come in right at shooting light. I drew back on one of the does when she was at 15 yards. Next thing I know my arrow is falling off my bow. I did not know what was going on. I looked at my bow and here is the knock on my string and the arrow gone. I somehow pulled the knock out of my arrow. I then sat the rest of the day seeing nothing. Then I lowered my bow to get down and the next thing I know I hear blowing by a whitetail deer. Here was an 8 point buck watching me undo my safety harness. Off he went after that. Who ever I made mad I am SORRY!
