Now that velvet is stripped I've located 3 of my 4 hitist bucks on one property. The non-typical I posted hasn't shown, but that's what he's done every year since 2008 and he comes back late. I have both the big 8's showing up during daylight and I pretty well have their core area pegged. I think they are going to be very killable. The big 10 went MIA for almost a month and now I just picked him up heading back to bed in the center of the property! He's a stud for sure and the biggest deer I've ever captured on camera on this farm. I still haven't made a decision on whether I personally will kill either of the 8's yet. I've included them in my list due to wanting my father and/or very good friend to kill them. The 10 is where my eyes are fixed for this property.

Hey team, I will be heading up north tomorrow night for a Sun. and Mon. hunt. The temps. are going to be great , I hope the winds cooperate. I didn't put any camera's out this year so I have no idea what I might see, but I will put a couple out when I get there because the suspense is killing me. In the past years I passed alot of nice bucks waiting for that big one on the camera and ended up with nothing. I figured this year I would go in blindly and take the first decent buck I had a shot at since I don't get up there as often as I like . Good luck to everyone

Well, the weather has turned chilly here. I have woke up to 30's the last couple days. If this keeps up I might actually hit the woods in the next week. The season doesn't start till the 1st of Oct. So we'll see. I might throw a camera or two out in the next couple days or so. I got a call from a guide buddy of mine and he needs some crop damage tags filled so I might get out a little bit this week and give him a hand.

No luck, seen a nice tall 10 pt. coming straight for me and busted me at 50 yds. The wind was all over the place. I had a shot at a couple of doe's and a small 8 pt. , it sure felt like November in the morning with that heavy frost. I will be hunting the IL opener on Monday and next weekend also then back up north for a few days, hopefully the leaves have dropped by then.

Just an update here. Have only been out once the first few weeks of the season. Been monitoring a lot of trail cams more that anything. Trying to locate our bucks from this summer. Got a few pics but almost everything has been at night. Did find a few nice rubs around one of my stands. Been waiting for a weather change before I head out again. Looks like we might get that this weekend with highs dropping down into the 40s by friday.

Good luck everyone!!

Well the season kicked off today. I went out to the property to whittle on the 13 cords of wood piled up. I had no intention of hunting as the the corn is still standing. I got there and all the corn was cut. And my brother had got a good jump on the wood. So I started splitting....a half hour into it and 4 shooter bucks walking the north side of the field, I grabbed my bow and took off. I got set up where they should have crossed a small opening coming to water. I watched as all 4 of them crossed just out of range. The first buck was a pig around 150ish...can't get out till Sunday evening unless I call in sick of work :stretcher: or the wife decides to cancel all of her plans... LOL

I'll keep every one posted.

Mike
