Been extremely slow here. No one I have talked to is seeing anything for action. Havent had any of our big bucks on camera for about a month now. Getting worried they may have been harvested.

I think the rut came early this year, when I was up north in the second week of Oct. I seen bigger bucks chasing Doe's hard late in the morning which I have never seen that time of year, and here in IL , they have been killing alot of big bucks since the 2nd week of Oct. which normally does'nt happen to this time of year. Last weekend I seen a giant with a doe in the middle of a corn field on lock down for over 3 hours, which is what is probably going on up there. I know the deer were in rut here 2 weeks ago when I shot my buck, I hope things pick up for you.

Posted a doe for us tonight.

Unfortunately my hitlist has been crushed this season. Grumpy was hit by a car. Wide 8 was shot head on in the chest and wounded Friday morning and goalpost was gut shot Sat night.

Neither goalpost or wide 8 was found. Dang neighbors taking bad shots. Wide 8 might live but goalpost can't live through a slug in the guts.

Thanks!! I have some pretty good property up there in Illinois to be able to get bucks like this without any scouting and in only 2 weeks up there a year. Imagine if I lived there and could scout alot more. I was trying for the twin to the one that the guy across the street got. Saw him a couple times but no shot. I also had a nice 14 point come in to 40 yards but he wouldnt give me a good shot and he made it past all 3 of us. He was 33 yards from Laura and a turkey trying to roost broke the limb and almost hit the buck in the face when it flew down. Then he came to me and was at 40 yards but stayed in the stuff i couldnt get a shot and then went to Bills stand and was 40 yards from him and Bill got a shot off but he hit a twig and missed by inches so that buck has a guardian angleand I passed on a nice 140 class that was at 10 yards broadside because he was headed for one of my friends stands but he ended up bypassing it and didnt give her a shot.

14 point

Here is a picture of the buck I got yesterday. I've got to get the other pics down loaded for the score board. I'm still sitting in hopes of a bigger buck.

Shot him using my Remington Model 30 express Springfield 1906, a rifle that belonged to my grandfather, then my father, eventually it will go to my son.
