Shawn
Congrats on the doe BB! Today was our season opener with the bow. Only made it out in morning as we spent the afternoon at the hospital visiting the twins. So it rained all last night and there are still so MANY leaves on the trees. At around 7am i glance over my right shoulder and heres a buck standing 30 yards behind me right behind my tree. Looked like at least a 6. He just walked off into the swamp with a small buck (spiker, or small 4 point) following behind him couple minutes later. Niether presented a shot. But at least i got to see two bucks on opening morning. Good luck all!
Turkeygirl
I'm hoping to head out this evening....my broadheads shot awesome yesterday...made the tiniest of adjustment to my sight, probably didn't really need to. Just need to get my pack ready and that's it. Might be a little rainy today, hope it ends by this evening or even just a slight drizzle... Turkeygirl
Last night 3 bucks came off of bordering property (well what used to be property I hunted my whole hunting career that got sold to a farmer who doesn't let anyone hunt unless you lease) out into a field on the property I am hunting but around 200 yards out....2 small buck and 1 decent looking buck from what I could tell. They eventually disappeared then I decided to get down a few minutes early to check and move my trail came and a deer snorted on the property the other side of me and went down deeper into the woods. Had I not moved, this deer probably would have crossed right onto the property I was hunting and offered me a shot. Oh well...a good first outing. BuckNrut
I don't have much to say about my opening day experience, but when I got to my evening stand, somebody was hunting from a climber in the tree next to mine. Saturday is supposed to get very cold (20 degree drop) with favorable winds. Chance of rain 30-40%, might sneak out tomorrow AM too.

BuckNrut
Made it out yesterday and hunted all day, waiting for a cold front to come thru - it never came 'til after dark. Had a nice doe entertain me at first light. She stayed around for over an hour. I drew 3 times and had to let down 'cause of a branch, a bad angle, leaves from a branch obstructing the vitals. Eventually she stepped into a shooting lane broadside at 30 yds. Unfortunately, I judged the distance for 20 yards and shot low. This is 2 times now in as many hunts that deer have come out of the standing corn into my little corner of the wood lot - I think this will be the pattern for a couple of weeks. Will try a new spot tomorrow winds out of the NW, and can't hunt the corner.
Turkeygirl
Good luck Art! Saw deer from my stand last night and this AM...raining now...if it lets up, will go out to same stand...or else sit in the blind in our woods.
BuckNrut
5 points on the way! Will post in a day or two. Was sitting at the end corner of a corn field and she came down through some rows. 15 yd shot - no tracking required. Got the meat off the bone and cooling in the freezer tonight. Will finish processing tomorrow (Monday).

mandyjo62
Congrats BB! Good to have some points on the board. 535hunter-- You're not the only one without game cams.. It's illegal to have them out during any hunting season here, so they don't do me much good. We don't do food plots.. can't really grow anything this late in the year here, no moisture, and it's getting too cold already. I see deer everywhere but where I am hunting. All the deer in our area look horrible, they've been run around so much from all of the fires, it's pretty sad. The only bucks I've seen are 2x2 or 3x3, it worries me a little! I live 3-4 hours from where I hunt, so I didn't get much time for archery this year, was mostly after elk for archery anyway. Rifle season opens in 10 days or so and I'll be back at the ranch more often in the next month so let's hope I can fill up my freezer as well! Last night driving home saw 2 BIG bucks along with numerous other deer....Trail cams near home have been slow but I'm sure things will pick in a few weeks. BuckNrut
Hey guys & gals, this is my LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL for my BS Healthcare Admin program! Been real busy with the team final project. It's done now except for some minor formatting on someone else's slide. Anyway, been too busy to download my pics to post here, and I need my beauty sleep - tomorrow should be an excellent day for my corner wood lot stand. BTW, had a perfect opportunity this past Monday on another doe and messed up! The corner stand is HOT HOT HOT right now!
Shawn
Hey Everyone! THings been hectic since the twins were born and ive only gotten on 2 more times since the 1st. Last night i got set up at 2:30 pm and was sitting nice and still. At 5 pm i start hear crashing and 2 min later my phone is vibrating. My fathers neighbor who hunts a few hundred yards from my stand kicked 5 deer as he was walking in with 90 minutes of day light left. To each there own i guess but felt it kinda screwed up my hunt as eh told me two of them were bucks. But anyway have to work tomorrow some overtime. That formula is expensive. lol but ill be out on sunday. Congrats on the doe BUCK! talk to you guys soon.

BuckNrut
Can't seem to hit the broadside of a deer this year! Last night, 4th time this year I failed to close the deal. Very exciting though as I grunted back a nice buck and worked him in to 15 yds. Unfortunately he caught my movement drawing & wouldn't give me a good shot. Oh, btw truck broke down so now I have no ride to go hunting with.
