Trevor
Saturday morning my wife and I are heading to Thunder Bay to visit our daughter. I have never been that far north before so I'm looking forward to the drive. We are going to travel up through Michigan back into Ontario and around the top of lake superior. A long drive about 18 hours but I'm sure the trip will be a lot of fun.

Shaun_300
That's a LONG haul, did that one probably 15 years ago when I was a kid on one of our family vacations and will definitely do it again before too long. We did it in two days, one day to the Sault then the next day to Thunder Bay. Probably close to 18 hours travel time from here. From there you're probably quickest to go like you said... down the 402, cross the border and hit I-75N all the way to the Sault and cross the border back into Canada and run 17 all the way to Thunder bay. Once you hit 17 it's a gorgeous drive along the north shore of Lake Superior. I think it was 7-8 hours from the Sault to Thunder bay. Northern Ontario is a beautiful place, LOTS of hills, the car will get a good workout lol. Anyways, enjoy the scenery on the way and enjoy your family time when ya get there!
