sskybnd
a guy on a few leases from me told me he puts out pears to attract his deer. never heard of it, but went on a pear hunting mission. around here i dont think many people have pear trees, but did find 2 places in ok that had a tree in each yard. i asked if he ate them and he said no. asked him if i could have a few and only the ones on the ground would do for what i needed them for. if gave me a walmart bag and told me to take a couple dozen. the next house had a tree loaded with them, he said take all that i wanted, filled a small box up. the thing that i was wondering is does any one use them and does the wasp and yellow jackets keep the deer from wanting them. wtnhunt
Never put out pears, but had some pear trees I planted. Unfortunately we lost the trees to blight one year. We used to get deer in the yard pretty close to the house during daylight eating pears, they seemed to love them.

Won't stop the deer. We had yellow jackets and hornets hanging around our pears after they would get soft, deer still came to them.
dbHunterNY
let me put it this way... it's illegal to bait deer in NY. however, deer like pears so much multiple bucks came out in daylight to eat ones that fell from the tree in my parent's backyard. the tree is less than 10 yards from their pool deck and less than 20 yards from their house! moral of the story is deer really like pears! lol

arrow32
any one ever put out pears. Never really thought about a deer liking pears but it makes sence. Always like learning something new.
youngbuck06
I have two pear trees that are about 15-20 yards from my back porch and also some sawtooth acorn trees that start at 15 and go all the way to about 80 yards from the house. The deer will literally fight over both of them. I've seen does stand on their back feet and almost even jump to get pairs down out of the tree!
