Oklahoma Duck Season

Okay it's about that time of year again time to shake all the spiders out of your waders and reflock the goose decoys but it sounds like to me duck season might be over before it starts this year what are your predictions for the grand lake area of Oklahoma ??? Many say that low water levels and the rumor that the GRDA hasn't spread millet like they usually do will once again put a damper on the ducks up and down the twin rivers throughout Oklahoma but I know someone always seems to find a honey hole where the can always find some green heads please reply and lemme know what you think...

I think we will have plenty of ducks as always. Granted lake hunters have to work harder but our side of the state always has good Mallard and Gadwall numbers.

Keep in mind due south on the west side of Hudson is a ton of planted crops which bring the big birds and ducks in by the hundreds. GRDA also does a lot of planting on Ft. Gibson (south of Hudson) so there is a lot of food to move birds through.

Also, keep in mind when all else fails find a good duck pond. I almost always hunt ponds. Grand and Hudson both are fairly normal but even then, when all else fails find a couple of farm ponds. They almost always have ducks. Mallard really like the shallow water anyway. They will not shy away from ponds...
