Pit Bulls sux, retard dogs the breed needs to be killed off

Hey now that post was uncalled for. There is NO reason for you to act that way at all, if you don't like the breed then don't post on this thread. Because all your doing is making a fool of yourself, there's breeds that I hate but I don't go around and talk/post crap about them.. I'm a little more mature than that so grow up.

Harder for some to do than most.

Sorry for your thread getting a little hijacked.

Sorry your child went through that and hope she had a full recovery! With that said...you should have led with that thread and not that whole breed is bad!! Where was the owner of that dog? Just remember...just because something offends you or you don't like...just be careful how you respond so you don't offend others.

Plus one.

Sorry to hear that. But I would be a safe bet that it was more the owners fault than the dogs.

Agreed. I'm also sorry to hear about your daughter, if you would have said that in the first place then maybe I wouldn't have been so harsh. But it offended me the way you said "Kill off the whole breed" That's like if a person kills someone and then someone says All humans should be killed! Just because of that one person. I agree pits are used to fight and can be aggressive but not ALL pits are that way, if their raised right then there just as good as ANY other dog you can name. Once again I'm sorry for being harsh but I was offended.

My child was attacked by a pit when she was 6 years old had to have 3 surgeries . She was in my back yard, lucky I was close by to beat the dog off. Think about it, now you know my reasoning.

My youngest son was attacked by a Black Labrador. ER visit and many stitches. I really disliked that dog. I did not dislike the breed. I saw it as what it was.

But that is me. You are allowed how you feel but I think that you should phrase your feelings differently

Now do not get me started about poodles or house cats though.

Poodles are ugly but they are actually great hunting dogs.. Yeah, I went there.....

I'll never own one because they arent my thing but they were infact bread as hunter/ retreivers....

Been bit a few times, first time when I was about 8 or 9 years old by a german sheperd, was the only time I ever had to go to the hospital for anything related to any dog bite.

Vet we had in Florida had her jaw ripped off by a dalmation, she had to have some serious reconstructive surgery. Suppose some knucklehead who would not have known the difference could have called the dalmation a pitbull.

First I'm sorry I didn't follow up on this after my initial comment. I simply forgot about it.

I understand how people can loyal to a breed but I often question owners why they have pit bulls. And when I ask them, 8 out of 10 times is its a status symbol. Few people get them for what they were actually bred for.

Now you take a breed that is popular for making people "look tough" and it becomes popular like it did 10 years ago. Every mom and pop trailer park hick are going to the ASPCA and getting cheap unmanageable pits for $50. Now they are suddenly pit bull breeders for extra cigarette and beer money. Figure in that rarely does Jon Q. Redneck want to pay for a quality AKC pit breeder so they truck off to the trailer park. Demand for cheap dogs is good and then the inbreeding takes place and the gene pool gets sckewed with dogs that people cannot handle. Strange how most of the dogs at the shelter are pits...funny how that is

I have always been a strong proponent of "no bad dogs just bad owners" but when you have a bad gene pool like what has happened to pits over the years and that tips the the scale the other way.

I have two neighbors with pits and I laugh when they call them babies.

Neighbor #1 left the house for a while with his two pits in the house. Comes home and finds a scene from Helter Skelter. Blood EVERYWHERE. Come to find out, the dogs got into the garbage then started to fight over it. One pit tears the ear off the other creating a bloodbath in the house. They fought in 3 different rooms and cost the owner thousands in vet bills with one having to be put down. Funny, never hear about labs doing something like this.

Neighbor #2 has 3 pits. I go riding past the house on my bike after taking the kids to vacation bible school. The come tearing out of the yard barking and snapping. I hit the afterburners and they gave up. Now I'm worried about my kids on their bikes. I tell the owner about the dogs. "oh don't worry, they are big babies" Yeah maybe for you. Pit bull owners forget to realize that the dog will act differently for them and not for others. Now I have to pack a pistol whenever I ride past the house.

I'm going to wind this down. The breed itself was bred for one thing, guard dog/fighting. And you take a breed like that and skew the gene pool like what has happened over the last 10 years or so and you will be hard pressed to find a pit that isn't a little nuts.

Wow, just wow.

No wonder the breed gets such a bad rap. Guess noone would buy one of these dogs as a companion and for protection of their family/property.

Staffordshire terriers were originally bred to be guard dogs and were noted for their loyalty and for their nature with children, American pit bull terrier is one in the same animal.

Ain't it funny how the ONLY dog I've ever been attacked by, the only dog my brothers have been attacked by, the dog my friend was attacked by and bit, the only dog my mother was chased down the road drug down and bit in the face and had to have stitches down the side of her face was from a Lab???

Now I'm not gonna post on this thread anymore because I will probably say something that gets me banned or worse others banned also.

Ding..Ding..Ding!!!!!!

You just validated my point! Originally!

You can find quality animals with all of the breeds you mentioned but you have to have the bloodlines and you will keep those good traits. Today's pit bulls have had those good traits bred out of them and we are stuck with the sorry asterisk breed that we have today.

Luke's numbers are just the tip of the iceberg. Take a look at the dog bite and fatality numbers for the last 10 years and one breed tops the list....pit bull.

Any dog can be a great guard dog. You don't need one as unstable as a pit.
