Scbasshunter
I think I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2008 diamond "the rock". Any thoughts or concerns about this bow?
dbHunterNY
it'll kill deer. lol honestly it can be 80% let-off which is good when drawn on a deer waiting for a shot opposed to 65% which it can also be set at. it's got a forgiving 7" brace height so if you're not shooting as well it won't show as much. it's speed isn't fast by today's standards, but respectable being around 310-318 fps IBO. if it's used maybe look at the string and anything you think might need to be fixed or replaced. take that into account when you pay a certain amount for it. RangerClay
Dan really explained it well. I looked hard at the Rock when I was looking for a new bow 3 years ago. It should serve you well.
dbHunterNY
i forgot to mention that the Rock needs certain module for specific draw lengths. make sure the bow you're buying is real close to the same draw length you need. otherwise you may have to order a different module. Scbasshunter
Well, I bought it. $190.00. It does need a new string, but it has a stabilizer, silencers on the strings, rod that holds the cable slide (not sure what its called), and on the limbs. It has the new (maybe not new, new to me) d loop that you screw on instead of tying on, wrist strap, 6 arrows, flambeau hard case, sights, quick tune hostage style rest, quiver, and ultra nock. He is also including a release. Not a bad deal in my opinion. It is already at 29 inch draw which is what I shoot so should be good to go on that. dbHunterNY
limbsaver everlast string leeches are like $10 for four of them (not a big deal and they take seconds to install with a bow press) even if you get new ones on a new string it won't cost much. all the Diamonds come with octopus like bands that go around everything, called their Hush kit. i noticed is helped by old bow a lot if a took the limb bands and stretched them out a little to move them to down around the riser of the bow. i then installed stick on limbsaver dampeners on the limbs. bow should be pretty quiet regardless though. haven't ever tried the metal d-loops. always tied them on. probably works just keep an eye on the calipers of your release for wear. i've noticed with the all black Hostage rest that the brushes wear out quick. i'd take it to a shop and make sure the string is still shootable. just ask them what they think. if it is, keep it coated with wax to protect it longer until you can get a new one. doesn't take much, but i use this stuff.... BCY X-Wax Bowstring Wax for the heck of it, here's a picture of my Diamond bow that's now my backup bow. shows the silencer stuff i talked about... good luck with your new bow! Scbasshunter
As soon as I can save up to add to it, I want to put on a string suppressor and I really like the roller string gaurds. Not sure if the rollers can be put on any bow but seems like a good idea.
dbHunterNY
you might be stuck with the cable slide and rod. they mount different to the riser. honestly i think a rod with cable slide works well too. my target bow has that and works more than fine.
