muggs
How good can a conference be really, when its third best team loses to a Sun Belt school? LSU and 'Bama are awesome teams, but two teams does not make an entire conference. Kentucky, Vandy, Tennessee, Ole Miss...terrible programs. arrow32
Sec...sec...sec!!!! I agree. Refer to the other thread. UL will win again. They have nothing to lose an everything to gain that makes for a dangerous team. SEC will soon loose ground with the new system coming in and the BCS moving out. muggs
'Bama and LSU are awesome teams and have been recruiting better than anyone, outside of USC the last few years. No doubt about it. But what sickens me is the contract ESPN has with the SEC, where they flash their logos paired together across the screen every 30 seconds. How much you hear about 'SEC defense' or 'SEC speed.' Again, 'Bama and LSU have speed, especially on defense...but why is the conference getting credit for two teams? Everyone is trying to sell Arkansas as something special...well a Big Ten team (my beloved Buckeyes) worked them over two years ago, now they lose to a Sun Belt school?? And that's the conference third best team who got a preseason top ten ranking for no other reason than this unfounded SEC slurping. It's a crock. arrow32
Sec...sec...sec!!!! Yes it is. Like you said LSU and Bama are two of the best schools in the nation but they are tw conference. PAC has that. Big ten could if it wasn't for Ohio ban. Big 12 well OU is over rated I think. My beloved WVU I need to see them play some in league play and win and win big the same with TCU. Every conference aside from the big crap has those schools. ACC well tech is there ticket. I'm not saying all those schools could beat LSU or Bama but it'd be a heck of a game. Im pulling for my eers i have faith but I need to see them beat all big 12 teams. daviswr
Sec...sec...sec!!!! Arkansas was ranked eight when they got beat by UL. SEC just has good programs, good coaching.
arrow32
Sec...sec...sec!!!! Arkansas was ranked eight when they got beat by UL. SEC just has good programs, good coaching. Tell me what major conference don't have goo coaching? Yes they were ranked 8th they lost to a program they shouldn't have. In no way shape or form if your competing for your conference title atleast they say you will be should you loose to a sun belt team. They might a well have lost to the high school here in town. That team has never beat a top 25 school.
muggs
By good programs do you mean like Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Miss St? Yeah, that ole Dan Mullen over there at Miss St. is one HECKUVA ball coach. haha What you do have is Nick Saban and Les Miles, or as God likes to call them, Satan and Lucifer respectively. I will give you this, it is the deepest conference...BECAUSE IT HAS THE MOST TEAMS OF ANY CONFERENCE. Let me know what else you need, bud. redkneck
It's ok to be a hater Muff. It's been 2,430 days since a non-SEC team was crowned college football's national champion. On Jan. 4, 2006, quarterback Vince Young led Texas to its first national championship since 1970 by throwing for 267 yards and running for 200 in a 41-38 victory over Southern California at the Rose Bowl. The Trojans' dynasty ended that night, as the Longhorns ended their 34-game winning streak and aspirations of winning three consecutive national titles. The SEC dynasty started a year later, after No. 2 Florida upset No. 1 Ohio State 41-14 in the first stand-alone BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 8, 2007. LSU won a BCS national championship after the 2007 season, followed by Florida in 2008, Alabama in 2009 and Auburn in 2010. Since 1998, five different SEC teams have won national championships (Tennessee won in 1998); no other conference had more than two teams win national titles during that time. The SEC's recent dominance doesn't end there. Since the Longhorns won the 2005 BCS national championship, SEC teams have: • Occupied more than half the slots in the BCS National Championship Game, with its teams playing in the six title games a total of seven times. • Held a lead at the end of 16 of the last 20 quarters in the BCS title game. • Been ranked No. 1 in the BCS standings in 26 of 48 weeks. On Nov. 20, three SEC West teams -- No. 1 LSU, No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Arkansas -- occupied the top three spots in the BCS standings. • Been included in the top 25 of the weekly BCS standings a total of 238 times, more than any other conference. Vanderbilt is the only SEC team which has failed to appear in the BCS standings during the last six seasons. LSU and Alabama have combined to appear in the BCS standings a total of 80 times. • Posted an 8-2 record in BCS bowl games, more victories and a higher winning percentage than any other league. The Pac-12 is 5-3 in BCS bowl games; the Big East is 2-3; the Big 12 is 4-4; the Big Ten is 3-8; and the ACC is 1-4. Seven of the SEC's eight victories in BCS bowl games since 2006 were decided by 10 points or more.

shawn8157
I love an Ohio State fan talking about the SEC, last time I checked they hadn't won a game against any sec teams in forever. If I recall they did beat beat Arkansas a couple of years back, but due to being one of the dirtiest schools in the ncaa they had to forfeit. When a non SEC teams wins a title then we can talk about being overrated.
arrow32
Sec...sec...sec!!!! Non SEC school winning a title is near. I'm hoping it's this year. But I will say that Bama has some awesome D and they know how to score. LSU is a good looking team as well. But they are the league. There are a couple other teams that are good but no one to the scale of those two. I can't say anyone else from the SEC has shocked me by any means. muggs
Redkneck, you're missing the point entirely. I guess that isn't surprising considering you're from the South. My point is that I don't understand why the conference gets all the credit when it's LSU and 'Bama doing it all. Your post right there proves my point. I stopped reading that insane diatribe about 8 lines in because it's way too friggin' long, but already by line 8 I came across phrases like 'SEC dominance' about 27 times. All those weeks the 'SEC' was ranked etc... it's either been LSU or 'Bama. Right now, those two programs are doing great things, no one questions that. What I do question is why the entire conference gets to take credit for those two programs. Here's a fun game, let's test redkneck's reading comprehension. Redkneck, if you go back and read my original post, you'll see my thoughts addressed in the paragraph above are specially expressed there. So, go back and read the OP and see if you can comprehend, mmmkay buddy? Edited September 13, 2012 by muggs
muggs
And speaking of the dirtiest programs in college, Auburn won a championship with the best QB money could buy. You heard it hear first folks, the corrupt NCAA rode Newton's coattails and exploited him for their own gain. Do not be surprise if they end up stripping him of his Heisman a few years from now - when he's far enough removed from the NCAA they don't look bad. They did it with Reggie Bush...they'll do it again.
redkneck
I think you miss my point muggs. I got about 2 lines into reading your typical bs then did 3 seconds of google cut and paste and posted up some crap, just because I wanted you to spout off more. The truth of the matter is that LSU and Bama are pulling the weight this year, as a lot of years. Records speak for themselves: Since the 98 bcs era SEC vs. PAC-12 regular season: 10-12 SEC vs. PAC-12 bowl games: 1-0 SEC vs. Big 12 regular season: 6-10 SEC vs. Big 12 bowl games: 21-8 SEC vs. ACC regular season: 42-36 SEC vs. ACC bowl games: 16-9 SEC vs. Big 10 regular season: 7-4 SEC vs. Big 10 bowl games: 19-19 SEC vs. Big East regular season: 16-15 SEC vs. Big East bowl game: 3-8 Overall 141-121 Looks like another mediocre conference on paper there, but apparently the money machine at espn likes it, so it works. And apparently they don't care if a few folks like yourself from where the heartland meets the lake can't accept it and move on. I can understand why you can't see that though, being from the north and all. Edited September 13, 2012 by redkneck
rhine16
Yeah, that ole Dan Mullen over there at Miss St. is one HECKUVA ball coach. haha I won't argue with your bs about the sec, 6 straight national championships speak for themselves. However, ask your boy Urban how good Mullen is. Don't forget he was Urban's OC at both Utah and Florida.
muggs
"Overall 141-121" haha...impressive... It's easy to win 6 national championships in a row when everyone is so caught up in the conference they automatically get a team in the game every year. Again, I'm taking nothing away from 'Bama and LSU. What they've been doing lately has been very impressive. Outside of that, you guys got one with a pay to pay for us QB who will be stripped of his Heisman by 2016...you heard that hear first boys and girls. Let me know what else you need. I'll be back later. For now I have to go do something productive, like talk intelligently with people who live in the North and run the country and whatnot.
