Scbasshunter
I missed a doe tonight then shot a small buck. We followed blood but kept jumping him. Going back in the am to look.
hoosierhunter
Sickening! Sounds like a far back hit it you jumped him. For future reference if you bump a deer always back out immediately and wait and additional 8-12 hours. Hope you find him.
hoosierhunter
Sickening! If you found the arrow, smell it and examine what's on it. Any slim, brown, green, chunky usually means guts.
Ethan Givan
Unless I see or hear a deer go down, I like to give them atleast 45 min before trying to follow blood. Like hoosierhunter says, smell the arrow. If its a gut shot, it will smell bad, and most likely have green, brownish slime all over it. Hope you find it
Scbasshunter
It had the slime all over it. We waited about an hour then searched with a dog.we kept jumping it. Following blood in a couple of hours. Its guts were hanging out.

hoosierhunter
Sickening! If your hounds are worth their salt you will find the deer today. He's putting down a very heavy scent trail. He isn't going to go very far if you jumped him multiple times last night.
Bowmadness2186
good luck hope you find him. had the same thing happen to a buddy of mine last year. we let the deer go over night and found him 100 yards from where we stopped the night before
Scbasshunter
We've had a dog out this am and walked all around. No deer. I can't find any blood past the last spot we found last night. No clue.
hoosierhunter
Sickening! Look downhill and find the nearest water and or thick cover. He will be there.

Jeramie
Look downhill and find the nearest water and or thick cover. He will be there. This is actually true sometimes. I shot a buck with a ML'er once. Couldnt find any blood but I knew the hit was good. I walked downhill and looked up until I found a small white patch. I found him about 100 yards from the shot, stacked in brush. Sometimes you have to think outside the box. Using two guys down the blood trail you can also sometimes make an imaginary line point to point in the direction the blood was headed and find the deer. hoosierhunter
Sickening! Being gut shot, he's losing a ton of fluid and feeling sick. He wants to replace that water loss thus going to water and bedding close to it. Downhill is just easiest path of travel for him. His guts have plugged the hole and that's why your finding no blood. It's all internal because entrance hole is high and exit low.
dbHunterNY
yea Pat (hoosierhunter) is right. he won't be far from where you jumped him last either. eventually he'll circle back around to the area where you shot him too if you've gone far enough.
