I am not sure where he even came from. there is no scent blocker that could have covered up what I about had in my bibs.......lol
The_Kat
Scariest thing to ever happened to me in the woods was when I was about 11 years old and we were burning out place off. I was walking with my grandpa setting a back burn off and all the sudden we could hear his dogs start yapping after something. They'd usually do this when they'd find a opossum or a skunk. This time however their yapping was running all over the place and suddenly started getting louder and in a hurry. I could tell they were headed this way and all the sudden I could hear crashing through the woods headed right at us. Then I saw it.....a brown flash coming right at me. It was on me in like two seconds fangs bared and claws out. The flash slammed into my ankle like a bull....CRASH! Next thing I know I'm screaming like a school girl trying to get it out between my feet, doing this high jump/salsa/electric slide type dance. Finally after the gruesome attack that lasted forever ( maybe 1 second? ) it took off 90 degrees away from me. It was at that moment that I saw the cotton tail and realized it was a bunny lol! Scared the ever loving crap out of me. Also had a similar experience with squirrels that was listed above.
Dawg
Was camping once on the river. We were doing a little bass fishing when I got a hard pull on the line. Fought for the longest and finally got "it" up before my line broke. I couldnt believe it but when it rolled at the top of the water, I saw fur. I thought, ok, no big deal, probably hung an otter or beaver. After the line broke though I saw a trail of bubbles headed for the bank. This thing crawled up out of the water about the size of an otter, but when it got up on the bank, it stood on its hind legs, then walked over to a tree and climbed it! We sat in the boat speechless. I decided to go back to the camp, which was close by and get a light and a 22 (it was getting dark) and go back and shoot the thing to figure out what it was. We did just that. When we pulled the boat up to the bank and got out, you could see the eyes shining in the light. I raised the rifle and found him with my scope. Is it just me or is this story missing something? Say like......THE ENDING! Come John, you can't leave us hanging!

92xj
3 wolves 45 yards behind me walking the road bed I was on. a bull moose walking in while I was in a bush. Stood up, he kept coming, talked to him, kept coming, crosshairs on his eye at 11 yards, kept coming, took 3 steps to the left and he walked over the bush and continued on. Cougar at 10 yards sitting down on a hill watching me 10 feet above me.
country gal
Scariest/weirdest thing that's happend to you in the woods? Season before last, friend of mine and I decide to go hunt some state land. We get out there before daybreak and get settled in about 4:30-4:45 AM. Maybe 30 minutes later, we hear a vehicle close by. Next thing I know, the person behind the wheel comes flying down the path in a full size SUV, nearly hitting me. Wasn't 30 minutes after that, couple guys in a pickup hauling a 4 wheeler are making a huge racket then come flying down the path, again coming within 5-10 feet of me. Then to top it all off, we have Bubba 1 and Bubba 2 come waddling down the path about 10-20 minutes after daybreak. They notice me sitting there with my bow in my lap, and proceed to ask if I'm bowhunting. I'm like "Duh, what's it look like?" Then they notice my friend and ask if she's bowhunting too. My response? Nope, she's got a rifle. Needless to say they left as fast as they could, checking every few feet to make sure I wasn't gonna get them. (And in Missouri, you can bowhunt on a rifle tag. Already checked it out.)
Tominator
I'd have to say being attacked by a screech owl 3 times. Third time I tried to swat him out of the air and he finally left me alone. Weird.
ApexPredator
Scariest/weirdest thing that's happend to you in the woods? Last season in VA had a doe come barreling through the woods at full tilt right towards me. I was on the ground in a leaf suit and stood up quickly to try and get her to pull up for a shot. She didn't even blink and ran right past and I could see she looked terrified. When I turned back I saw why - 2 huge Rottweilers in hot pursuit! I held as still as a nail and prayed they didn't notice me. Luckily they were too focused on her and ran right past me too. That was a lot of dog moving real fast and my one bow shot wasn't going to save my butt!
